Chapter 1
You
This is you. You have recently lost everything that mattered to you, your friends, your family; it was all gone. You knew things like that had to happen sometime, you just had never imagined that it would be so soon, or happen so violently. There had been an accident; at least that’s what you had been told. It was an accident that destroyed the fragile semblance of your life taking everything away and leaving you alone. You don’t like to dwell on such things; there was no point to it.
You had been lying in the middle of your living room floor staring at the ceiling; you don’t know how many days, weeks, months, maybe years, had passed. You just did the same thing day after day, lay on the floor staring at the ceiling; slowly wasting away. Forcing yourself to eat was always an infernal struggle; you were surviving just by the skin of your teeth. It was a day like this, a day like any other for you when the end was personified.
You were laying there when you heard screaming outside your house, it made you blink; it was unusual for your quiet street but you didn’t pay it any mind, it was none of your business, it had nothing to do with you. You were slightly startled when your door was suddenly and brutally smashed in and large inhuman men with horns on their heads came in. They held weapons covered in blood, wore thick blue armor and had strange translucent looking skin that could almost be described as grey; but you didn’t really care, you just blinked at them and continued to stare at the celling. They could do whatever they wanted, you didn’t really care; if these things killed you, all the better really.
Unfortunately instead of killing you, you were unceremoniously thrown over one of their shoulders, it was painful, but you didn’t care. You didn’t have a choice anyway. You didn’t care, what was left for you to care about? It was all just a waste of time and energy. You spent your time looking up at the sky, it was sunny today; it was nice. All around you there was screaming, you looked over to the side and saw that your neighbors were being murdered. That would explain the screaming, but why not you, why were you being carted off? It didn’t make sense…oh well, you would much rather look at the sky than look at your neighbors being indiscriminately murdered.
After some time had passed you realized that the one holding you had stopped, you blinked, what was the holdup? You briefly looked around and saw that there were quite a few abnormally huge people with horns on their heads lined up; they all had normal people over their shoulders. The people were crying and freaking out; a lot of them were bleeding. You pitied them, at least you could hold yourself together, you don’t even get why they are freaking out so bad; yeah the murders were gruesome and in your opinion uncalled for, but it wasn’t like they were going to live forever right? You shake your head a bit at their pathetic behavior and go back to looking at the sky; it was more interesting by far and required less thinking on your part.
Eventually the guy holding you started walking again and you were suddenly in a very different place; you could tell because instead of the sky, you saw stone above your head. You were thrown to the ground roughly and shackled to some other person who was bawling their eyes out; they were then slapped really hard for it by a female guard. Huh, you guess you’ll just go along with this, there isn’t any point anyway. You were pretty much dragged to a gigantic door, it was really quite impressive. It was easily twelve feet tall and was an unusual purple color with delicate looking black scrollwork all over the it; you found it pretty. You were pretty bored just standing there, so you decided to listen to what the others were saying. Well, screaming was probably the more correct term.
You noticed that there seemed to be no order or condition to the people chosen to be here; there were men, women, children, and the elderly couple who lived down the street from you. They were all pretty upset and torn up about this. You stood there quietly as your neighbors were screaming and struggling against their shackles. It seemed like they were trying to throw themselves at the guards in the stupidity of their raw emotion. You were smart enough to not act out so blatantly, but then again, you didn’t really care at all.
“What are you!?”
“What do you want with us!?”
“You killed my children!”
“What’s going to happen to us!?”
Most of them were punched, slapped and otherwise physically abused to get them to shut up; but the person who was right in front of you actually received an answer. Another massive guy with horns leaned in close and raked his claws down your neighbors face causing him to bleed and cry out. This guard must have been particularly vindictive.
“The grand highblood requested we grab some lowblooded creatures to use as paint for his walls, you are the lucky few who will get the honor of meeting him before your horrible end.”
He had a cruel grin on his face as he described your fates. You didn’t really care though, it sounded kind of cool. You would finally get to die plus your blood would be used as paint which is pretty nice; it would have a use, it would be like recycling. You wonder what a grand highblood actually does, what does one actually look like? You imagine some sort of guy in a suit, but using blood as paint….huh. Whatever, you don’t really care all that much, you will get to see him one way or another anyway.
The line starts moving and the guards let in one person at a time. It only lasts a few minutes for each person and the sounds of screams can be clearly heard through the door. Everyone else was crying and shaking and begging, except for you, you were calm and under control. A sliver of doubt creeps into your head, shouldn’t you be scared too? Why are you taking this so well? You kill those thoughts quickly, you can be calm and okay with things if you want to, you don’t have to follow the crowd and start crying and stuff as well. If you did that you would probably get slapped around and you would rather just die then go through pain and stuff beforehand, it’s a waste of time and energy.
The strange beings with horns on their heads were laughing at everyone or grinning evilly and menacingly. It didn’t bother you much though. Finally the person in front of you was separated from the line and was dragged into the room kicking and screaming before the guard came back out. A few seconds for that one and then the screams began; they never last long though. That sliver of doubt was still there, that was your neighbor; shouldn’t you do something, anything!? No, nothing could be done or prevented especially by you, besides; you wanted this.
After a few seconds when the screams had stopped, the man by the door grabbed you roughly by the arm cutting you with his nails. The pain made you blink, it was very uncomfortable and you watched briefly interested as your blood ran down your arm in little scarlet rivulets before he distracted you by leaning close to your face. He grinned at you exposing pointed serrated teeth.
“You’re next girl.”
Yes, you knew. You were dragged into the room despite the fact that you were not struggling at all, but it seemed being dragged was a requirement. You were unshackled in the center of what could be described as a throne room. You looked behind you and blinked as you saw the door close, then you went back to examining your surroundings, the place where you would die. You looked at the walls covered with splashes of color, brown, yellow, greens; there were a lot of colors spanning the walls. You had to agree with this grand highblood, the place did need more red. You don’t really understand why he couldn’t use some guys with horns on their heads, but who are you to question any of that?
The place stank of blood and looking around you could see why, there were the broken bodies of your neighbors scattered about. They were on the floor at the moment; it seemed they didn’t get cleaned up yet, possibly to instill a greater sense of fear in the people he dragged in here, very effective really if one took the time to think about it. You stopped looking at the bodies; it made you feel a bit uncomfortable. It reminded you of things you want to forget. You wonder why this grand highblood guy hasn’t killed you yet and you look up to the throne in the back of the room. It was a massive black and purple thing that was also covered in color, it was sitting on a little platform with four or five steps leading to it; it was balanced nicely by the six huge pillars in the room that were also covered in color. With the abundance of color in the room, you think that this guy was possibly pretty cheerful; he certainly liked colors anyway.
You draw your attention to the man sitting in the throne. He was also massive, easily nine or ten feet tall with long goat like horns spiraling out of his tangled mess of thick, curly ink black hair. His hair was very interesting by itself, it seemed to defy gravity. He was wearing a shirt that almost looked like a tank top and showed off his midriff slightly, the shirt looked like it had a purple ribcage on it and his pants had purple spots and a Capricorn symbol. He didn’t appear to be wearing shoes so his feet and the bottom of his pants were covered in different colors, mostly red. He was very strong and muscular looking, it was easy to tell. You saw a pair of huge clubs covered in spikes, blood and paint next to the throne; oh, so that’s how you will die.
Finally you looked at his face, it was a nice looking face you guess; you’ve never been a good judge of such things. It was easily the face of someone that would terrify and freeze the heart of a lesser person than yourself; he had covered it in face paint that was made to look like a demented skull. It was pretty badly smudged in places and had drops of blood on it, but instead of taking away from the terror, it made him look even more threatening. The most terrifying part you think, for another person, would have to be his eyes; they were yellow around a bright shining indigo. He had indigo eyes, you briefly marveled at the novelty of it but right now they were glaring at you; their piercing color seeming to glow of their own accord. He seemed to be waiting for something. You looked around briefly and noticed that you two were the only ones in there. So he must be expecting you to do something. You didn’t know what you were supposed to be doing, so you just continued to stand there meeting his frustrated looking gaze with your measured and controlled one.

Don't worry, I know you won't! You shouldn't put yourself down about things that you create. I still have a smiliar problem because I don't comprehend why other people like my stories as well. Yours is very well written though, and it seems to have a certain direction that you are heading towards, the question to the readers is what the direction is. I find you are doing a fine job and it should be easy to keep it up as long as you think to yourself that you are doing a good job. Don't worry, many people like these things even if there are a few mistakes in the long run. As long as you don't trip before the finish line you'll do fine!

Don't put yourself down, this is a really good fic so far. I really love your reader character, she just doesn't care. It's hilarious, most other reader inserts are all emotional, but yours just can't bring herself to give a damn. Not even in a death seeker kind of way, she's just honestly done with life and it's great. You should write more, if only because her personality will contrast wonderfully with the Grand Highblood's. It also looks like you're going to handle this particular AU very well, troll invading earth and all that. Plus the narrations excellent, great descriptions. Can't wait to read the next part
