I never played the games so I am not sure how the movie compared to the games but as a horror movie on itΒ΄s own first Silent Hill is awesome. I am not much for the so called torture porn-category (gore is totally fine and I appreciate good gore-effects (non all-CGI) but when it has no purpose more than to gross out I am not a fan).
It was ok but I felt like...nothing was on the line. Nothing really changed, there was no real peril for the character. We know she is Alessa already, she gonna kick their butts. If they had harmed her dad she would have given them hell. If we did not know this was Alessas "good side" going in and SHE did not know until the end there would be something to loose. Now she just walks in and kicks butt.

Oh yes one of the best. I am not a gamer so I have not played the games but they are so famous you cannot miss them. Also Junji Ito I think was there on the creative team of the games and I love his art-style and creepy horror.
