This place, as beautiful as it was truly wasn’t exactly the perfect scenario for someone of Hiriel’s complexion; Dressed from head to toes with a scarf to cover her face here and then, the helmet with a giant visor to block the sun as much as possible as well as glasses to protect her light eyes. Granted she did remove this last piece as often as she could, but overall, Completely protected from the UV rays. And so did her companion; Team Sunscreen could have easily been their official name. Hiriel did chuckle to herself at that thought, but did not voice it. instead she simply looked back at Eli to see how he was handling it. “ Still fine Lieutenant?” She chimed with a hint of joyful banter.

Unlike Hiriel Eli kept his shades on for the most part. The sun glare in his left eye was getting quite intense up here without them especially when reflected in the water and he was used to always wearing a pair of shades anyway.
You could say Eli was in his own little world at the moment with this dreamy landscape presented in front of him and the lady that kept giving him those mixed signals riding alongside. Ah, yes, life was good. No, that was not sarcasm. It was good at the moment. The whole scenery provided some sort of comfort and while they were out here he didn’t have to consciously think about not looking.
That’s right. For the whole duration of the acclimatization Eli had been painfully aware of Alexa’s presence and he didn’t want to do the infamous goo goo eyes where she could see. He had become a bit self-conscious about it, actually.
Eli was pulled back to reality upon hearing Hiriel’s voice.
“Never been better. How do I look, I’m not turning into a lobster, am I?” His visor was not as large as Hiriels and didn’t cover his face as well, but he had been good with the sunscreen. He wasn’t feeling sunburnt yet.

“So far so good!” Hiriel answered back with a giggle, after all, she did see him sporting a magnificent sunburn back in Australia. In the meantime she pulled her bandana down so he could see her full face again, as well as her warm friendly smile. “ But they really were not kidding about the sun here! ” she scratched Easy’s butt as a thankyou for her hard work. “ I am glad neither of our mares is light skinned.”

Not gonna lie, Eli was a little concerned about Hiriel’s unpigmented eyes in this UV heavy light when she wasn’t wearing the sunglasses. He ogled a little at her, but at least the scarf she had protected most of her face when she had it pulled up.
“You’re right. I did see a few double-cream horses tho. And they were really dressed up for the occasion.” he said, referring to the sun-protecting gear that some of the horses had been sporting. He glanced at her again.
“Hiri, you sure your eyes are fine in this?”

“Not really” she answered right back, with a faint chuckle, “ I really should put my glasses back on, but they are rather annoying. ” Hiriel admitted, showing them off to Eli, fault if wearing those, at least she had them available. “ Downside of being a human Cremello I guess!” She joked rather cheerfully anyway.

He smiled a little. She was always so happy and unbothered, he’d love to have some of that, but he was quite the opposite. For some reason, he was acting more nervous around her now than before, probably because of the reprimand he had received. Commit or let go, he didn’t really want to do either.
“You’re better at taking care of yourself than I am, I shouldn’t be saying anything.” The corners of his mouth curled as he looked at her, eyes shifting a little. “You do look cute in the visor by the way.”

“Is that so? Should i be the one reprimanding you then Lieutenant Porter?” Hiriel joked straight back, offering him a curious look and a warm smile, wondering a bit what he was referring to. As for the compliment, she froze for an instant, her pale cheek tinting with more pink.
“Why thank you!” Hiriel replied as she instinctively tried to replace the visor in a perfect position.

“Maybe you should, Sargeant,” Eli said unable to hide a smirk, her blush did not go unnoticed however as he watched her correct the visor. He scratched a little at his cheek and cleared his throat. “Anyway, uhm, maybe we should continue?” They had paused for a moment to enjoy the view but he was itching to get going before the sun started setting.

“I’ll keep that in mind then” and she tapped her index on her helmet, letting know that she was taking a mental note and that he’d never be safe again if he’d slack on his well being around her.
As for the blushing, Hiriel did not sweat it too much, quickly passing to the next matter as Eli proposed to pick up the pace again. “ Sure, and it has been a while since we crossed anyone else. I wonder if we are falling behind. ” she thought outloud as her light eyes scanned the horizon, asking Easy to take the road again..
“Oh!” Hiriel eventually exclaimed as she pushed her mare forward in a small canter. “Look, there’s flamingos!!” She happily exclaimed as she pointed ahead for Eli to notice. Of course now they had to join the flock of birds to have a closer look, so Hiriel promptly put back her glasses on before she’d forget in her sudden excitement.
