"Tell me a story, Mommy," the child said, crawling under her covers and snuggling down into her pillows. The woman sighed lightly with pretended impatience, brushing the girl's hair from her eyes.
"What type of story?"
"Just any."
The woman thought for a moment, then sat on the edge of the bed and looked out the window at the waxing moon. A light summer breeze ruffled the tree branches in the nearby woods, and she smiled. "Do you know how wind is made, Gabby?"
"No."
"Well then listen closely." Gabby closed her eyes and listened. "Faeries are one of the most ancient beings on this earth. They may be small, but they're powerful. And several hundred years ago the world was completely still; it stayed in one spot. So one side of the earth was always day, and the other always night. And it was like this for many, many centuries. But the people on the earth got angry and upset. The night side couldn't grow any plants, and it was always cold. The day side was always hot, and couldn't sleep well in the bright sun.
"Now, the faeries felt bad for the humans, and decided to do something about it. So they got all the highest powered faeries together and discussed the dilemma. Soon, it was decided that if all of the earth could share both night and day, there would be no more problems. And so with all the other faeries of the world, they blew. And as I said before, though they're small, they're powerful, especially together, and they all created wind. It blew over the earth's surface and slowly started turning it. And that's how the wind was made.
"What do you think of that, Gabby?" But when the woman turned to the girl, she was fast asleep. Smiling to herself, she pulled the covers over her and tiptoed out of the room. As she switched the light off, she thought for the briefest moment she saw a small figure out of the corner of her eye, flitting past the window. She squinted out into the darkness for a second, then, laughing quietly at her imagination, gently closed the door.

I can't promise when I'll have the next one done, or if I ever will. It's kind of like a side project for me. I think this first one came out pretty good, though ^__^;

I'm also not sure if the next ones will have a story.
