There was once a boy whose name was Adam. He lived a simple life and really kept to himself. He was shy but he was a gentle soul who just wanted to care for everyone. Adam wanted to find a good quality in everyone and help others who were dying on the inside. There was one though who stood out from the rest. An older girl named Michelle who at first was the type of girl who Adam found quite strange. She would just talk about other guys around Adam and it at first didn't affect Adam. However, as time pasted and the more time Adam and Michelle spent together, Adam started to grow feelings for Michelle. He had many crushes in the past and thought Michelle was nothing more than that but Adam's crush grew into something deeper. Adam was a sophomore in high school at the time and Michelle was a senior. Adam knew that a relationship with Michelle would never work out but he still cared for her and let his heart speak louder than his mind. He wanted to make Michelle his. So one day, Adam had texted Michelle to meet up at a local park close to his home. He waited their anxiously for her and when she arrived, Adam felt a feeling he had never felt before a crush. Michelle was wearing a black skirt, a white shirt and a plain jacket over it. They met up and walked over to a bench and started having a normal conversation. Adam the whole time was just thinking about how beautiful Michelle was and how he was just about to ask her. Adam then quietly said,"...Michelle?" Michelle looked over at him and smiled and said, "What is it Adam?" Adam could barely speak and he was said to her, "Michelle, in the time I've spent getting to know you, your just so an amazing girl and just so special to me.. I was hoping to ask you to be my girlfriend..?" Michelle stared at him speechless, like the wind had been knocked out of her. She looked down at her skirt in said, "I'm sorry Adam.. I can't be. You may really want to reconsider dating me.." Adam looked her with a puzzled but sunken heart and said, "I don't need to reconsider because I know that I do love you and I will never love anyone." Michelle then responded, "Adam.. I'm just not ready for a relationship and I'm just too immature for a relationship." Adam looked at her and then said,"...Do you even have feelings..?" Michelle said, "Yea but..." "But what..?" Adam quickly said. "I don't really know how to explain it but I just can't.." Michelle said. "You don't want to be held down.. isn't it?" Adam said. "...I guess." Michelle said. Adam quietly said, "Okay.. I understand." Adam and Michelle soon drifted apart. Adam did everything he could to change and try to be like the guys who Michelle would talk about but it never worked. Adam tried to do everything in his power just to see her and get a hi but as time passed by, Adam stopped seeing Michelle. He soon went crazy with both anger and depression. He would angrily scream at himself and would throw books in frustration. His depression was much worse though, he would re-read all the texts she would send to him and he would cry for countless hours just remembering all the memories. Adam soon started letters to himself about how it was his fault that he had to love Michelle. She never asked him to fall in love with her. He kept writing on these letters "I knew that it wouldn't work, so why does it hurt so much?" He kept blaming himself on why Michelle never loved him. He knew that she didn't care but his feelings still wanted to hang out since she said she had feelings. The more letters he would write to himself, the nastier they got. He would write that he should just move on, that Michelle would never love something so ugly and worthless, that Michelle hated him and wanted nothing to do with him. He soon lost the feelings to care about anyone and soon started to cut himself. He even wrote in his letters that she would never care about him no matter how much he would cut himself. Adam soon fell into deeper depression and tried to be occupied but nothing worked. School then ended and Adam somehow convinced himself that he should go to Michelle's graduation, for one last goodbye. He went to her graduation and he saw her get her diploma and he was so happy for her. When the graduation ceremony was over, Adam tried looking for her but he never found her. After so much time of squeezing through people he then found Michelle, with all her friends looking so happy and proud of herself. Adam was just about to walk up to her and hug her but he pulled his hands backed and looked down at the floor, Adam didn't want to ruin her happiness by him being there. Seeing her smile, just sent Adam running in tears. Michelle graduated and then went to a college a few towns away and though she lived with her parents, Adam felt so emotion wrapped up in his heart, he didn't want to see Michelle again and then just kept cutting more. More time passed and Adam was now in his last year of college, and was still single. He was sitting in a local college coffee shop and checked his Facebook. Everything was normal but something caught his eye, their was a status that read, "Michelle --- is now married to -------" He then logged out of his Facebook and closed his laptop. Adam then looked at his self-harm and all the thoughts and memories started returning when suddenly, a girl came up to him and asked, "Excuse me? May I sit here?? All the other seats in the coffee shop are taken except this one." Adam shrugged it off and said, "Knock yourself out." She then sat and pulled up her laptop and noticed Adam's self-harm scars and said, "What happened to you? Attacked by a cat??" Adam looked up at the girl and said, "They are none of your business, and I'm allergic to cats." She kept looking at them and said, "I'm sorry, I just wanted to cheer you up since its hard having those scars. I'm Tiffany by the way." "Nice to meet you Tiffany. I'm Adam." replied Adam. Tiffany and Adam soon spent the whole day talking and then fell in love and later got married and had two lovely children. Adam one day was looking through his Facebook and saw another status about Michelle, "Michelle is now divorced." Adam stared at the status, he then closed his laptop and just said, "Though you put me through so much pain, Thank you Michelle."
