Description
I didn't really want to upload these, because frankly they're awful and they annoy me, but I figure someone might want the large versions for whatever reason. This shell matching game was added to Delphi beach for the cruise event. Each piece has four variants and you've got to pick out the one that matches one you've already been shown. I also did three prizes for it (I think they're achievement prizes?) a book made of shells, an urchin beanbag, and a little pipe cleaner dude, because the idea made me laugh. Every year at the fair around here there is a wheel you can spin to win a prize. The prizes are all rocks or cheap trinkets, but it is the highlight of the fair for me. But even in a game where the prizes are literal rocks, these pipe cleaner googly-eyed shell dudes are the true booby prizes. Especially since they're usually glued to pencils or a huge rock base. So they were the first thing to pop into my head when it came time for prizes.
As for the shells themselves, I don't know. They came out okay but I'm not happy about them. This isn't the first or last time I have regretted getting Painter 11 over Photoshop (I mean, the problem is PROBABLY me, but still.) There's just something about the shading I don't like. I get sloppy and rush when I use Painter 11, but it feels so much easier (and is so much faster) than how I'd shade in PSP7.
And I will NEVER be able to do mother of pearl correctly it seems, but I am determined to keep trying for some reason.

Actually, my first though when I saw the shells was "Wow, that mother-of-pearl is so gorgeous!" XD That and the one at the top left are my favorites, you did a great job!

First off, I love the color! Muted, but so vibrant and realistic! You have captured tiny details with your coloring! The details with in each (especially mother of pearl) make you feel the texture of each shell. I really think that your simple linear work really is set off by your amazing color! The shapes of the overall shells are so real I feel like I could touch them. You did awesome!
