Description
Me: Here's an idea; what if we did something productive today?My Brain: ....What if there were miniature horse centaurs?
Me: Goddamit.
~~~~
Height/Weight:
Miniature Centaurs are generally the same size or shorter than the average human; A far cry from their 7-10 foot (213-304 cm) cousins. Standing anywhere from 4.10-5.5 feet tall (147-167 cm), these little taurs are capable of maneuvering easily in most human-sized establishments and facilities. Most weigh between 150 and 250 pounds, with some exceptionally tall or bulky individuals weighing up to 350 pounds. There is a size difference observed between males and females, with the average female rarely weighing over 200 pounds and the average male rarely weighing under 180.
Functionality/Range of Motion:
Uniquely flexible and versatile, Mini taurs are capable of performing tasks which would be near-impossible for their taller cousins, such as: gymnastics, ice skating, skateboarding, rollerskating, etc. They are well-proportioned and coordinated, having perfect control over every part of their bodies. Most lack any of the clumsiness of larger taurs. Minis are often very hyperactive, and tend to squeeze their bodies into odd and occasionally disturbing positions (think horse yoga calendars).
Health/Lifespan:
Mini taurs are more susceptible to injury than other centaurs due to their small size, and many are born with deformed legs, knee problems, and dwarfism. They are at risk for many other physical and mental health problems as well, including tooth deformities, ADHD, liver failure and eating disorders. Females can also have foaling problems due to their small size. Despite the inherent risks of their existence, healthy minis have the longest life expectancy of any centaur breed, with the oldest on record having lived well into their 90's.
Conformation:
The ideal mini should have the same proportions as any regular-sized taur, but many do not meet this standard. Most minis display a certain amount of stockiness, and they tend to have short and stubby legs. The body is generally very compact, with sloping hips (shoulders, on a regular horse) and a deep flank. Many minis are very fuzzy, and thick fur can occasionally crop up in the upper body as well as the lower. Hooves are very small and, while great for fancy footwork, can be easily caught in things like grates or chicken wire.
Intelligence/Mental Capacity:
Minis, like all other centaurs, possess the same mental faculties and reasoning as humans. They have different base instincts and physiology from humans; which does not affect their intelligence but may affect their interspecies social skills.
Colors:
Mini taurs can display any and all colors naturally found in centaurs.
Information on Above Characters:
Top Left: A young woman with a silver buckskin coat. She is approximately five or six months pregnant in this image. Mini taurs have an overall gestation period of 11 months, so she still has a ways to go. Logically, the womb would be located in the lower body, so centaur ladies don't really look much different on the top half during pregnancy (save a bit of weight gain).
Top Middle: A man with a frame overo coat, wearing a standard work outfit. He's speeding along at a swift trot, looking a bit nervous and disheveled. Maybe he's late for a meeting.
Top Right: A girl in her late teens with a golden palomino dun coat. She's about as small as a mini centaur can be, standing 4'11 feet tall from head to toe. Female taurs top off at about 15 y/o, while males can keep going until their late teens/early twenties.
Middle Left: A mini toddler, with a grey coat. He will lighten as he gets older. This little boy is probably around two years old, and as you can see, his conformation is much different from regular-size foals. Mini taur foals closely resemble human babies in their compact, pudgy bodies; while regular-size foals are born with very gangly bodies.
Bottom Left: A young girl, probably between the ages of 12 and 14, with a pangare red dun coat. She is displaying one of those odd Mini Taur™ movements, sitting up on her haunches in a way that would unbalance a regular taur. She's quite tall for her age and breed, probably around 5'4 or 5'5.
Bottom Middle: A young liver chestnut boy, probably the same age as the girl next to him. His body is flexible and compact, perfect for skateboarding. He's small for a male mini, but don't worry; late bloomers are very common in this breed.
Bottom Right: A size comparison between a short/average male mini and a short/average human woman. This old man is a pangare chestnut, and his height is fairly respectable for his age and breed.
Seems like you lost against yourself!
Anyway, this is so amazing! The whole Concept, but also all the taurs itself! Especially the three females, ye know, the pregnant one, the very small blonde one and the one sitting one her haunches (she's my favorite of them) !
And I would love to see one if those minitaurs doing Yoga!
Btw, do you plan to make actual characters from some of them?
And will you do more with Minitaurs someday?
