Wanted to try out designing what I thought Rainbow Quartz 2.0 would look like.
It's been hinted that Rainbow Quartz will make a second appearance in Steven Universe, but that she'll look different--likely because it will be Pearl merging with Steven rather than Rose Quartz.
I looked over what each gem individually brought to their fusions and how they're all based on exaggerations of the personalities of those involved and tried to figure out what Steven and Pearl would each offer up based on their relationship with one another.
Since Pearl is overly protective of Steven and Steven is determined to protect his friends, I figured a fusion of the two would be something like a knight. Since Pearl has ballet-esque shoes and Steven wears sandals I tried turning them into Greek gladiatorial shoes. Also tried to shape the hair around the face to sort of look like a helmet, though I don't know if I pulled if off that well. Originally I sketched her with floofy hair, but changed it to spiky because that seems to be a dominant trait in gem fusions (ex. Steven and Connie both have floofy hair, and their fusion also has floofy hair, Steven fuses with Amethyst, who has spiky hair, and the fusion also has spiky hair. All other mixed gem fusions shown have spiky hair except for Fluorite and Rhodonite.)
Basically I figured it's kind of like dominant and recessive genes... Because I'm a stupid nerd who should be ignored.
Didn't merge their weapons in this pic, but I might draw them again--if I do, their weapon will definitely be a lance.
