Description
Okay, this'll be the last update for a while. I've uploaded these in the wrong order – I did this one before I did the Hajieelkhe piece and before Glimpse of Summer, yet I uploaded those before Spoiled for some reason. This was my entry for the CGchallenge of Master & Servant at CGtalk. I entered, not to win but to have fun – and to my great surprise, I -did- win. My BOXX computer is my best friend now. If you ever have the money to buy a wonderful new system – go BOXX. Unbeatable.Anyway, please click the bigger version. The small, ratty one doesn't do it justice. I've worked harder on this picture than any other I've ever created and I've never painted so many details into any one canvas
Prints of it available here,

and here (in the poster book along with others like Ladies of London and Game of Cards),

Pleaaase take a look at the details, I spent so much time on them

For those who haven't seen the M&S entry, here's the write up that goes along with it:
"At times, Nature is the master of Humanity... and at other times, Humanity certainly rules Nature.
Nature makes us hurry inside when she weeps rain upon the world. With hurricanes, she toys with us. Tornadoes are used to punish, earthquakes to throw us about like pebbles in a child's game. We live on her land, and through that, she rules over us. Our very bodies belong to her - they age in rhythm with her, and they are subject to urges and desires that she imposes on us. In some ways, we're little but slaves to Nature's ways.
But Humanity... on the other hand... has found another way to dominate. Humanity destroys what we touch. We reach out towards pretty things in greed, and leave a trail of death behind. We fence the woods in, we run over the animals and poison the seas. Ours is a different kind of mastery but it is one nevertheless. Nature serves us because she has no other choice. Humanity always expects Nature to mend what damage we've done: heal the woods burned down, return the animals hunted to extinction and cleanse the seas... never considering what will happen the day Nature is no longer there to catch us.
In this piece, I tried to show this relationship. Humanity a naïve yet destructive burden, the smile on her lips slight and dreamy as she thinks of the beautiful flowers she will pluck and the lovely birds she will see while all around her these very things now fade away. She's blind to the destruction she causes. She knows that Nature will be there for her, she knows that there will always be the scent of flowers and always the gentle surge of the sea. She is Nature's master in that Nature has no choice but to try to catch her and always try to mend the damage she has done... but she is Nature's slave because she must breathe the air, drink the water and eat the food that only Nature can give her."

This is so lovely and I adore your explanation. You did a great job of conveying that in your image, I think.

Someone is 'selling' a copy of this on Second Life (virtual online game); Yes, it is for a nearly negligible amount (the conversion rate for SL linden dollars is not very good) however, I wanted to make sure that they had your permission. (Saw it and went -- WAIT I KNOW WHO DID THAT.... I can ask!)

sorry to bother you with this.
In any case, I adore this picture -- the colours, and the way that the girl in white looks very innocent -- but that if you actually look at her hands, they tell a very different story.

On the left I see the wise, and the learn-ed taking advantage of the foolish, the easily swayed, and those that are guided by their hormones.
The wise wears a mask,
The foolish surrenders foolishly, believing that their care is to be entrusted to those who make promises.
Evidence of the deception is found in the dying lifeforms found around them. The beautiful, young, vivacious girl, who herself is just a metaphor for life-energy, will be used and discarded by the vampire who masquerades with promises of kisses, love, and immortality.
Oh well,
That's just my interpretation.

I have been a fan of art for such a long time and I have followed your arttwork for years. I have noticed that you haven´t posted anything for a while but I have not given up the hope that you will one day post a new gorgeous artwork. This is probably one of my favorites, your description of it says it all but I wanted to give my appreciation for this wonderful piece.

This is simply BEAUTIFUL!!
i love the expression on 'nature's face..
one question tho:
Why is there blood on the girl's hand? did she kill that dead bird on the floor?

It took someone else pointing out to me that things are dying in this picture. I was still too entranced by the detail of the two people to notice it. But now that I can actually see the whole picture, all I can say is amazing. I hope to be even half this good some day.
