Description Here is a collage of Most of my model builds from 2013(excluding dioramas). I did a similar submission last year but unfortunately I don't have all of these models anymore or are displayed/stored in different locations, so I had to settle for a collage. A couple models didn't make this collage due to composition (M113 fire support, behemoth and XDF 502).

This shot not only represents hundreds of hours of work but my second year of scale modeling and being on DA. 2013 was a really great year for me and looking back I am amazed I did all this! 2013 also is the year that I really worked up the skills, courage and madness to start building stuff I could think up and really thinking outside the "box". Almost like "leveling up" there was a HUGE difference between my work in 2012 and 2103 with steady improvement along the way. I hope that soon with my airbrush, I'll be able level up again, making 2014 anther fun and awesome year in my hobby.

Looking back and seeing improvement is always good but the mistakes stick out more. Allot of the time this hobby is a comedy of errors that you slowly lean to never repeat. Like the first year (and I am sure this year and many more to come) 2013 was chuck full of "learning experiences". Already more than a few of these models have been parted out or given away but some of these I think are good enough to sit in my display shelf for years (despite their flaws) .I can only hope that I can rise to the challenge once again for this year, push myself and hopefully by next year have models that are even better than these! Hope everyone has a productive and awesome 2014.!

What were some of your BIGGEST "learning experiences" in 2013?
As always questions, comments and suggestions are welcome!

Hey !
That's quite a good idea to recap a year of creation !
I think I may do a collage too !

I totally agree with you, improving is making errors and learning from them !
For me, most of your works are really good ! So keep going this way !

To answer your question , I had quite good experiences this year, I had time to come back to diorama with my Moria setting, I improved a bit my enamel skills !
I practised blacksmithing too, and that was really cool !

Have a creative 2014 year !

thanks man! i thought it would be fun, and a good way for me to review myself. some of these i had comply forgot about or it seems so long ago that i had made them. you should do one too!

its the errors(even small) that add up and make me strive for perfection, tho i think that is unattainable XD
thanks for the kind words, ill keep building, don't you worry XD

ahhhh very nice! blacksmithing  has always been an interesting craft to me. sounds like a very cool set of skills to learn and be able to use.

you too friend!

You must have a damn impressive looking shelf or display cabinet!

These are all great, not only do you do great kit bashes and awesome paint jobs, but you take a pretty decent photo too!

thanks a ton buddy. yea the display is starting to get filled up!  tho i have bashed a few and given away more than a few. cant get to sentimental, dont have the room to hold on to everything(plus many more to come)

and thanks on the photos, its something that is still  pretty challenging for me, and always trying to get better at.

What a collection. Great stuff. For the short time you've been posting (two years really?), you really have a definitive style. Looking at all of these pieces together it's amazing how much of a "signature" you have. I could almost always pick out one of your pieces from a line up. because they all bare your craftsmanship and invention. Thanks for sharing your work and especially your passion for building with DA. I know you've given me tons of inspiration with your work and your willingness to communicate and champion others is also greatly appreciated. Huzzah to another year following your posts and to many more to come!

enc86 In reply to CanRay [2014-01-18 20:00:42 +0000 UTC]

thanks man, i sometimes wish i was a bit more multi-skilled tho. pretty much the only artistic thing i am good at is scale models. have so many ideas i really wish i could draw, paint or write. but then again maybe someday with some practice i guess, as i didn't good at these overnight, sure with some practice you could be good at anything  you put your mind to.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CanRay In reply to enc86 [2014-01-18 23:13:31 +0000 UTC]

No.  I've proven people wrong that "Anyone Can Draw" too many times to think that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to CanRay [2014-01-18 23:22:50 +0000 UTC]

see that's the thing, i think i am proof about the "Anyone Can Draw" quote is slightly untrue but still on the money. I really suck at drawing  trust me i have tried(even recently) i mean i can doodle but i know it would take me years and i would probly still suck(a bit better but suck)

but i really do believe that there is something creative for everyone to accel at. its just finding it, getting passionate about it and practicing the hell out of it. for me its scale models, you might just need to try out new or different stuff.

out of all the different arts that's the one i really admire. i knew you wrote(have been to your profile) but never ready read much of your stuff, honestly i didn't really know where to begin(send me a link or recommendation hint hint lol)

anyways  i would never even be able to get past page 2 on anything, no matter how i keep at it.

Great collage!

Hmm, biggest "learning experience"...

Perhaps that I have to look at the instructions thoroughly and hold parts together before glueing, even if I think I know how they belong together.

Because with my paper VK1602 Leopard, I had glued one track part together wrong so I had to throw it away and print the page again. Then it came out in wrong size and I had to print it yet again. Since it was just for this one part I had to throw away the rest of the page when I was done with the model. I was furious.

Other than that, the idea to use photo backgrounds and subsequently the practice to bend them (which happened by accident) revolutionized my photos.

enc86 In reply to Baryonyx62 [2014-01-18 18:49:10 +0000 UTC]

thanks buddy! it probably took me longer than it should have XD weird sizes and me being dumb and not having some of the original photos to edit an such.....

yea that is a good one, i have been pretty good about that but every few builds i fall for that one too. ohhh yea that part will fit right,no need to check till i got everything painted XD
that really sucks, especially when you are working with paper! have you learned your lesson yet? XD

your photos have come a long way! photography is freaking hard, especially when working with stuff that's in your scale!i kinda went thu that myself at the beginning of the 2013, had to finally learn about software to correct stuff(and lean about about studio photography) because of my red Barron.  really you gotta love those happy accidents that paid off like that!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Baryonyx62 In reply to enc86 [2014-01-18 21:34:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I learned my lession... I am checking part fitting more often. When I forget, I remind myself of the frustration I had and then I keep testing again.

enc86 In reply to Baryonyx62 [2014-01-18 23:00:37 +0000 UTC]

lol that's good then dude. i still do it myself sometimes, it can be a hard one to resist.
every time i am about to skip something due to laziness, time ect i take a step back and remember what has happened in the past. most of the time that helps (most of the time lol)
