Recipe:
-Take a young, intelligent and idealistic man, about 6 ft tall, off the street.
-Put him in the army and give him officer training (unoriginal, I know).
-Give him a wife and kid.
-Put him through a war not completely different from WW1.
-After stewing for five years, take him away from the army, and have his wife and child disappear without a single by-or-leave. This will send him into a spiral of depression and doubt.
-Give him a series of odd jobs.
-When 20-30 years old, add stubble and a deadpan stare.
-By this time, this man will be blunt, reasonably intelligent, resourceful and sceptical, although on most days will be extremely tired and highly suspicious of other people. In addition, if he agrees to do something for someone else, he will usually always be doing it for his own ends, whatever they may be...
-Your Guy Knowles character is now ready. Feed irregularly and enter into lots of OC character tournaments.
WARNING: This character may be paranoid, violent and dangerous. He will always carry on him some firearm and a number of blades, and will not care who gets in his way.
