Description
Following the end of the Zombot Crisis, the Static Team find their way to the Sonic Heroes to debrief and reassemble to form a strong defense against any threat that may rise from the ruins of most of the cities... When Static learned that it was Sonic letting his Metal alterego go free and snap Eggman back to his villainous self the usually hopeful and cheery Hedgehog goes still and stares at him...

"It... It was... Because of you..? Why? ...Why?! Why would you let him go!?" Static's voice breaks as he struggles to understand how the Blue Blur could even come to such a decision... Sonic was exhausted after his ordeal but the tension in the air made him alert once more. "Everyone deserves a chance to be good Static, you said that yourself all that time ago... I gave Metal a choice... And that was the outcome.." The yellow Hedgehog's face contorts in almost mortified disbelief.

"Th-That's how you justif... WHAT?! No, this was YOU!" He barks, his ears pinning back and his fang showing from his lips as his anger rises to a boil in his veins. "Everyone deserves a chance to be good... Yea, but Metal had his chance so long ago! You've seen him threaten the world time and time again and you refuse to put and end to him? He's just a Rob-..." Static pauses, glancing towards his own robotic friend with a hint of shame.. "...He proved that he doesn't deserve anymore chances... He's evil... Just like his creator... You let him go too... And because of YOU... We almost all became mindless drones... Because of YOU I had to see the look of fear on so many innocent people's faces as they watch their friends and themselves turn into those things! This was all because of YOU, not Eggman, not Metal Sonic... YOU, because you had the opportunity to put and end to them once and for all... And YOU didn't take it." Static's eyes flaring with electrical power.

The cobalt Hedgehog was staring at the younger hero with a frown, clearly not liking being talked down like this but there wasn't much he could say to refute his words... But when he found his voice he spoke with remorse but confidence. "Are you really saying that you would KILL them? You would KILL Eggman to save the world... But then the next big threat? Are you really saying that you will 'end' every bad guy that stands in your way? You want to be known as that?"

Static's shoulders slump a little, emotions welling within him... He did consider his words... "I... I..." He stammers, glancing towards the friends he's made and their faces did show concern... "I don't know... I really don't... But, there's mercy to an enemy and then there's allowing evil to continue with no consequence..." He pauses before looking up to stare into his idol's words, pointing at his chest. "I looked up to you, you gave me hope and something to be like... You... You are not my hero... Not anymore.. You are something I will look back to and remember what not to be like... If I ever get the chance to end Eggman's tyranny... I'll take it." He mutters with vitriol before turning and walking away... The Porcupine follows silently but both the crimson Fox and his robotic companion would stand there awkwardly.

"I apologise for my friends' harsh words but what he has stated is not unfactual... It is illogical to allow a being that desires nothing but harm onto others continuous freedom at the expense of those they wish to harm... I wish you pleasant journeys." The synthesised voice of the mech states before turning and leaving with the Fox following... Timidly glancing back at the staring eyes of the other heroes.

So, apparently this is still topical concerning the latest issues of the IDW comic, but this has been in my mind for a while... It both explains a bit more of Static's morality as well as a reason for the Static Universe cast to be disconnected from the official characters, Sonic's strange choices have caused a rift between himself and the heroes that will go on to save the world multiple times in the future..
