First piece of 2024! This is an open species I was working on today after sketching out of sheer boredom. Anyway, here it is, and the art's simply an example!

The Kolwhelp
Description - These mischievous pranksters will lurk in riverbeds, ponds, lakes, or close to sandbars of the draconic wildlands to surprise their prey or anyone who strays too close. Using their duller upper bodies (ranging from any dull hue of a color) to camoflage as seaweed or sea grass and their head and back scales (being much brighter and also available as any color) as coral or trash, kolwhelps use their dark mouths to lure prey before eventually snapping down, but if startled, will dazzle potential threats with light by using their brightly colored underbellies and horns to blind attackers and flee. If encountering another kolwhelp, however, the two will play by bumping their horns with one another, trying to see which one will slip up first.

Speaking of their horns, each kolwhelp has an unique pair of horns from one another, whether it be forked or curving.

Their unique eyes have an unique pattern which is their pupils being the same color as their sclera, whether it be brown, bronze, gold, or any other color. Because of this, there can be millions of different combinations for kolwhelp eye colorations.
