this reminds me of a play by shakespear, titus. in it was the daughter of titus, raped and humiliated by the two prince. and so they would finally multilate her, amputating her hands so she cant write who raped her then sticking sticks in her wound. they would also cut off her tongue so she cant speak of who raped her. interesting similiarity
