I'm considering the classic Connie early enough in Starfleet history to take a very Earth-centric name. I usually hate how Federation ships, representing 150-400 worlds (depending on what episode/movie you're watching), frequently have names reflecting obscure Earth (Western European and American) battles, people and places.So, here's the USS Brindabella, NCC-1861, named after the Australian 'mountain' range of the same name (we don't do mountains very well).
