"It was my day off, so I decided to spend the day filming the Eagle River again. I got up around 3:00 a.m. because I heard an empty log train was due to pass Chidlow. Around 5:56 a.m., I heard a loud single chime whistle. So I got out my gear and filmed and photographed Eagle River #445, a former Norfolk & Western locomotive, pass by with a train of empty log cars. #445 was one of several ex-N&W 4-8-0 Mollies the Eagle River purchased in the early to mid 50s to work on coal and lumber trains, as well as for many other duties. As the mighty old Mollie passed me, I could see the fireman shoveling coal into her firebox. After the caboose disappeared, and after a friendly wave from the conductor, I packed up my gear and left to find more Eagle River steam to document."
