There was an eye tutorial in that caught my attention,
in the video, he made it into a 3 step process, I made mine into 4 steps.
(from left to right)
first is to have the guides, next is to have the basic eye shape which differs based on your subject, thirdly do simple shadings to and highlights for the eye, lastly, the finer details.
The last step in my process is merely just fine-tuning.

The tutorial really helps one understand the fundamentals, and grasp the basic shapes that make the eye, as everyone says: practice, practice, PRACTICE!
repetition will really allow the basic shapes to really stick, and you will undoubtedly be able to draw eyes easily without guidelines!
