well, saren was gay, but pretended not to be in order to not break garrus heart, but garrus found out and, loving saren too much, said "i'll take some hormones infusions and become a male", but saren found the right female after that and came back to his senses. so this is when garrus, who didn't had enough money to turn back to female, swore revenge to kill saren and benezia.
