Description
There was an amazing electrical storm over the weekend that lasted hours, was well worth getting a little rained on to get some of the pics i got.Twilo Thunder is one of the first songs that got me into dance music around 98/99 and i therefore thought this piece can pay homage. Twilo Thunder the second release from Breeder, The Chain was there first release.
Thanks goes out to:

How did I miss this the first time? This is truely stunning Kymmie. I must say I'm highly jealous though as I could never achieve such a shot, my camera is useless.
The colours are wonderful and i'm guessing you didn't edit it much either, which would make it all the more awesome.
You're getting a very late but much deserved for this.

Actually theres a bit of contrast/brightness/saturation work and some other work, the original was quite bright, i'll show it to you if you wish

Outstanding. Really love the purple.
I witnessed this storm too...it was great after many rainless days.
I also thought about taking some snaps...
but I knew my $35 digital camera just wouldn't cut it.
So I'm glad someone seized the moment...and you did a great job.
I found this pic by chance too (in someones wishlist) so it's kinda weird.
Anyway, greetings from Adlaid Straya

First thought:
i love but hate storms! i mean they're fun but they scare me if im alone
Second: Luck. Seems to play a huge part in some types of photography. Apparantly not with yours
i never get a clear view of our lightening let alone shots
The capture is truly awesome.

I'll hold you during the storms
Luck does play a huge part, and i was very lucky, the storm was perfect for it, bolts every 10-20 seconds then a minute gap etc, it went on for ages, like 5ish hours. I live near the beach so its easy for me to see (well when its over the sea anyway )
Thanks alot for the comment fim

I'm really jealous, you know? I'd really love to have the opportunity to get photos like this but unfortunately I live in such a bad area for lighting photography. Too many trees and the like. I'd like a decent photo of lightning at the beach... maybe just once before I head to England.
Anyway, it's a great shot. Curious, is it the first time you've shot lightning or? The purple looks great, and the darkness too. The saturation is awesome. You can really see the force of lightning by looking at this one.

Thanks for the comment, and critique Nyssa, it means a LOT, and thanks for all the feedback while i was touching this up.
I hope you do manage to get some shots, i'd love to head up to QLD and head a bit inland during the storm season, or maybe head to Darwin. A few hours after coming back and going through the pics i took, the lightning started to get closer so i went out again to the park across the road, it was raining heaps though, i wanted to get a shot of the black outline of a tree from the lightning, but it didnt happen, i nearly fell asleep at the park though under the gazebo.
I hope you do manage to get a shot, id love to see one from you
Its the 3rd time i've tried to shoot lightning, but the first with my 20D. I spent ages fiddling around with different combinations of levels/curves/saturation till i got you something i liked (well something we all liked )
