Trivia: a few years ago I was walking along a country road near the castle hill in Bezławki (former Prussia, now Poland) and I came across an archaeological excavation. The graves were Prussian, already Christian, probably from the 13th or 14th century. Human bones lay in exposed pits and there was no one around. (The archaeologists must have taken a break.) It was a surreal experience to come across human skulls on a clear summer day in the middle of nowhere. The bones can be seen today in a display case at the local church. And at my works.
