Come to the Emerald City, Dorothy and her companions are encouraged to wear special glasses,
"not to be blinded"; through lenses, everything appears green. The Wizard receives them one at a time,
and each appears under different guises (Dorothy like a big head; the Scarecrow as a beautiful woman,
the Tin Woodman as a bizarre monster; the Lion as a fireball).

The Wizard of Oz is a character in the book. He is a man coming dall'Omaha in Nebraska,
where he worked as a magician and ventriloquist in a circus, also taking care to advertise the shows
with a hot air balloon. One day, by accident, he lost control of the vehicle and was carried by the wind into the world of Oz,
where were attributed magical powers. He did nothing to dispel the myth, making it the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
