A little bit of Hornet and Herrah's backstory for my favorite game of all time: Hollow Knight... With some After-ending headcanons as well.
After her mother Herrah, the Beast, became a seal and had to enter a deep slumber; Hornet remained the orphan princess of Deepnest. She was then raised by both Queen Vespa and the White Lady during her early years. When she grew older, she became the Kingdom's protector and eventually joined the Ghost's quest to end Hallownest's stasis.
After the Shade Lord rose and started to wreak havoc, she and a group of skilled warriors (including the Hollow Knight) helped subdue them and were able to make it turn back into the Little Ghost. This event caused a major unbalance in the kingdom of Hallownest, and with this, there was vacancy in Deepnest's throne. To honor the memory of her dear mother, Hornet ascended to the throne; ushering in an era of prosperity and alliances between the Nests.
