Description
This image is older than dirt by now, but since Elastic Press www.elasticpress.com has recently asked me to format this image for use as a book cover, I've done some more touch-ups to the background and I thought I'd share. The odd composition is a result of compensating for the way the book will fold in half once it's printed; for the book cover the image will be flipped. It also happens to fit my Macbook Pro's screen resolution, so have another desktop why don'tcha.Related content

glad i found the source of this picture because i need to know, is this based on an imaginary person or someone you know? The reason i ask (and why i'm here) is because he looks IDENTICAL to me. My friends agreed too so it's not just my imagination!

My model was my younger brother. Pretty sure you're not him. Though I would be curious to see what you mean, if you have a photo of yourself.

Cracked.com brought me here! I'm proud of them for having the decency to give an original source.
Excellent work and excellent concept. I love the way the composition works for the image's meaning.

I have liked this long before becoming a deviant lurker. It was in the top listings on google as a search under "cyberpunk" for a long time. I look forward to browsing all of your work!

its too bad you didn't put some kind of web link or signature on this thing...its been passed around uncredited on the internet everywhere over the last year or two, as I'm sure you're aware.
Congratulations though on creating an expressive and skillfully crafted image that epitomizes for so many the dangers of advancing trends in media immersion. I'm really hoping we see more work like this from you!

Yes, I'm aware of it. In hindsight I should probably get into the habit, but for the most part I've benefited from the exposure. I'm glad you like my work.

A very strong image which depicts a very real situation that we have in our society today. It's quite frightening actually, many adolescents and adults alike seem to be living a life similar to the boy in this, almost like they're taken over by an electronically created world. Funny how it only seems normal to most of us.
Very well done; it's almost exactly the same as this painting I did a couple of years back, the angle of the walls and the placement of the boy is uncanny. (Except within my image I had a female and painted words on the crumbling walls.)

Are you aware that your image was used for a Hamas propaganda poster? [link] It depicts a Hostage Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit. [link]
How does it feel to be promoted by a major terrorist organization? XD
And I'd love to know how you're gonna handle the copyright issues with the Palestinians.
Anyway, great work.
I posted it here [link] with credits. Hope you don't mind.

Uh, yeah, someone first pointed it out to me a few weeks ago. Somehow I don't think I'd have any luck with a cease and desist, but if you have any ideas how I could discuss the finer points of western copyright law with a terrorist organization, I'm all ears. I'm sure it wouldn't earn me a bombin'.
And I don't mind at all. Glad you like my work.

Ever read Larry Nivens older works? His Gil Hamilton & Lucas Garner stories focused on kids that had wires inserted into their brains & Jacked "on" Called Wireheaders. Google it. You should be able to find his stuff in any used bookstore.

I've been looking up as much cyberpunk/dystopian art as I can get my hands on lately, and this just made me stop and stare for a while. Wow, it's just amazing how stark it is. The lack of physical concern by the subject in exchange for being 'jacked in'... Just awesome.
