Ah, let me say something. Up into high school I didn't draw people, I did a comic based on Godzilla though and if people absolutely had to be in it they were stick figures. They seemed too tough. Then I saw this show, and the style immediately caught my attention; "Wow, I bet even I could do that." And, I'm still not particularly good or anything but I have some ability to draw now that I would have never pursued if not for anime, and this one in particular. So, it's a sort of years after acknowledgement sort of thing I guess. Brock was the best character I think, though if one followed the show for too long, he got old and tired just like everything else.
Actually, what writing I do is owed partly to this show too for something called Pokébattles that I did for a while as a fansite.
So Pokémon, you were kinda cheesy and definately over-marketed, but you had an effect.
