Description
the time we spend here on this earth,is superficial and short lasting like warmth from the hearth,
books however,
can be read forever.
one day a girl saw a book on a shelf,
it looked different from all of the others,
"~read me~"
it whispered to her,
"i will tell you of all the secrets i hold"
"you have no secrets" said the girl
"i will tell you of the earth and of the
numberless stars ~numberless~
in the sky,
of clouds that grow roses,
and boys that write proses,
to that one special one..."
now interested,
the girl picked it up,
went to a chair and started to read,
after she read just that one book,
she was not able to put any other books down,
she became quiet in school,
lost interest in friends,
then lost interest in
food, (anarexia)
life, (suicide)
love, (self-doubt)
happiness, (derpession)
until she became too frightened to talk to anyone,
they were too different,
"too different from me" she thought,
"oh curse that retched book!,
so addicting,
never ending.
there are ever more books.
it lied to me,
there are no princes in shining armor,
no perfect endings,
and it took away all that made me, me.."
the realization struck!
i must make myself talk to others
and have joy even if i am afraid,
for a life without chances,
risks,
courage,
overcoming the odds,
is not a life at all,
but just a hollow dream that has filled all those many books.
my life being known as that one "smart girl",
and being labled as cold and unsmiling,
will end.
i have a choice over my emotions,
i will decide when to be angry,
when to talk,
and when to live.
***NOW!***
now, is the time i choose!
the book reader is gone...
the one who stole my identity....
gone...
hopefully forever.
