The dryads were nymphs who lived in the woods and embodied its strength and vegetative luxuriance.They were depicted as beautiful young women, with the lower part of the person ending in a sort of arabesque that imitated a tree trunk: they were therefore only partly plants. The upper part instead highlighted a certain beauty and brightness.
