I had some free time, and I also stumbled upon a swedish metal band called Opeth. They're quite popular and for good reason. Quite possibly my favorite band of the moment.So, as I said before, free time = me playing with 3ds max, and this is the result

For those of you who don't know: I did not make this logo, just brought it into 3 dimensions.
For those who do know: I was working from a low-res picture of the logo so I probably screwed up the details in the 'strings'. If you want it fixed send me a picture where you can accually see it.

Around here are brushes from photoshop so you can get an image with decent resolution so you can do even better this awesome wallpaper.

I like it, love the logo and you did a nice job putting it to the third dimension.
I though have to say, that the greatest thing about all these curlicues (if thats the right word) usually is their smoothness.
They make the whole logo seem much lighter and graceful.
You in my opinion failed to convert that elegance to the third dimension, as all the little lines have lots of hard edges instead of smooth curves.
I do not know about the process to make such a picture, but if the picture you base it on has bad quality, can't you just vary a little bit from the original?
Hope this didn't sound worse than it was meant to, i really like it and use it as my new background.
