Day 2 of Vampirella week.

The 2016 redesign.

So few years back DC decided to redisign Batgirl to be more fun, hip and girl friendly. Also (hopefully) inspiring cosplayers. And it worked, the "Batgirl of Burnside" as it was known was a big success. Well Dynamite Comics thought it'd be a good idea to copy that, and so they redesigned their top 3 famle characters to be more "girl friendly" those characters were Dejah Thoris, Red Sonja and of course Vampirella. The aim was now that they weren't so scantily clad, more they would get more female readers. It failed. Many exisitng readers were pissed at the redesigns and stopped reading, and they never attacted that new audience they were hoping for. So after 6 issues all the books were cancelled and relaunched back in their classic uniforms.

Now I actually liked Vampi's new look then, but I understand whey people were upset, because while it looks cool, she doesn't look that much like Vampirella.
