I love the colored stuff, but I also love going white and painting on it...so hard to tell. I think that for something like what you did here that inlaying some of that detail might have been easier with colored sculpey, but I also really just like the look you've achieved here. That also might be just me as the more nitty gritty hands on work I do the better end results I can achieve. So like actually working directly with something - no tools or very little, the better it is for me. Oddly I do digital art - sigh. I use to have literally hundreds of little sculpey crafts and miniatures, mostly dragons and craft or aliens etc. Stuff kind of like what you've made but the feathers was an awesome touch. I think that's probably why I assumed you were a guy. But my stereotype is fast being shattered by awesome female artists like yourself who do content us guys consider pretty damn cool and at least for me that seems more in our realm.

Im the same way. Then more work, the more details the better. Also I think is mighty fun to paint afterward, to see the sculpt slowly turn "alive". I always have a period in the middle when its half painted and I hate it to bits because it look awful, but then I grit my teeth and go on with it and in the end Im usualy proud of it.
I dont think the stereotrype-thinking is strange at all. Just look at the world around you, video-games are for guys, and if they are for girls its these pink pakaged "pet my dog" or "barbie race and ride" or puzzle games. If I open a merchandise magazine its pretty easy to find the "women" pages by only looking at the layout. In toy stores there is the girls section with only dolls and barbie. In clothes stores the womens stuff are filled with cute hearts, big eyed animals and fluff. >___< I puke on it all. XD If I want a nice looking t-shirt with a cool print I have to go to the mens clothes. Same about jewelry, men have so much cooler rings and necklaces. Im a hardcore games since 6 years old, and then we are talking Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Dead or Alive, Castlevania among some 300 other titles, (I own all consoles there is up to date, except dreakcast and sega. ) and I can say that Im a friggin good player. But thats also another thing, many guys thing girls cant play video-games. I dont know how many times Ive beaten the shit out of guys when playing various games and they just blink in surprise. XDDD And then its all such big talk about equality.
So yeah, I think the whole world should do good in understanding that women are just the same as guys, liking the same stuff. Not all of course, there are still them liking the cuddly sweet stuff, but there are also A LOT of us that dont. Hahaha.
And same for guys, some do like cuddly sweet stuff so let them choose that to. Equality please!
Hahhaha, wooops look at that super long note. XD Sorry! But as I said, considering how the world is, its not strange at all that you have stereotypes.
BTW! I just checked out your gallery and maaaaan why didnt you tell me you are an awesome artist!? The things you have made are amazing!! And I wanna see your sculptures!

Haha, I love that I just triggered a mini tirade, that's awesome. I know it wasn't a tirade though more just your ten cents on the topic...to which I totally agree and am getting more educated on everyday. I actually find it really comforting to know that girls can relate to some of these things the same as guys do. It makes me feel like I could relate more to your kind, lol. Most the girls I've known in real life are much more girly, into to sports and what not sure, but definitely not into video games, but I am an older generation than you (Or I'm assuming) and this has been fast changing over time. The stigmas are changing too, but I also think it's okay for girls to be girls and boys boys, etc. We ARE different, but we are also very much the same in many ways too.
Anyhow, that is awesome all the games you play and when you spoke of beating some bros, well that part just made me smile. I would have liked to have seen that myself. Just awesome, and good for you!
I don't game anymore, but when I did I could generally compete in any game I wanted at a professional level and have in some cases. I'm in the top one percentile in 4 test for manual dexterity...suppose that helps, lol, but yeah I'd NEVER let a girl beat me in a video game, like never, lol. Maybe that sounds bad, but I would be too prideful here given the stereotypes...which I know are bunk btw. Maybe that sounds hypocritical, but you know, just being honest, lol.
Ive always seen stereotypes as useful to those who understand their limitations while remaining a burden to those and others who still hold them but blindly subscribe to them...Anyhow that's my lil ten cents for what's it worth.
Thanks for checking out my art btw. I'm really glad you liked it! I want to see my sculptures too! Sadly that will never happen though because they are all gone and will never return unless I can invent some form of time travel, lol. But yeah, thanks for asking and showing some interest. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Hahahahha, lets all tirade! Its good for the heart. XD My kind! That made me laugh. I just felt like a ailien. Hahahha. But I know what you mean. Ive always been a tomboy, hanging out with guys rather than girls. I dont get the girly girls, shoping, make-up, girl talk, you know all that stuff. I think its totally boring, so maybe Im not a real girl when it boil down to it. XD Guys are more fun, Ive thought that in my whole life.
And yeah dont know what generation you are in, but Im pretty old ya know. Turn 26 in 3 days. Haha.
I think everyone should have the right to be just as they like. Its also a stereotype that guys has to be all rough and tough, never showing fear or weakness, wich I also think is wrong. I can totally think there is a big preasure on some boys to be like that, when maybe its all a facade to fit into the norm and group. If a guy is more in touch with his emotions he is called gay by other boys... thats awful. Im talking about the school period here. (also I can say that most of us girls like emotional guys waaaaaay better than the matcho dudes who we rather see as jerks). ^^ But then as you say, boys should also be allowed to be boys and girls to be girls. Whatever that imply.
Hahahhaha, maybe some day we have to see whom of us who really is the greater? A gaming duel!!! Lets rock! XDDD
Thats to sad about your sculptures. Why not make some more some day?

Chris-Bennier In reply to Escaron [2013-03-04 22:59:24 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I have myself a good tirade or two from time to time and I think ti's healthy as well. I like how you talk, it's thoughtful and balanced, you get your point across without pushing it. I'm a pretty balanced guy myself. I'm really into manly things (if you will), sports, fighting, camping, etc (all the good stuff), and I can act tough when necessary, but more importantly be tough - because sometimes guys have to be tough - not always for facade. I believe its our roll to be protectors and not jerks, etc. Although its sad how many guys gravitate towards this spectrum and also how many women are attracted to them. I know from experience that some women like the bad guys, I use to be one. But I'm not so much anymore and I've always been in touch with my sensitive side. I think a guy can be sensitive and still tough and that this is not a contradiction. I also think a girl can be a tomboy and that this is perfectly normal and she can still be a feminine female as well. But occasionally you have those that really gravitate in the opposite direction, which is fine but I still prefer my women to be just that and the men I hang out with to be men, and not little emotionally super fragile walk on eggshell types. That's just me though, to each their own. Anyhow, now I'm going on again, lol. I would like to say I agree with your points on this especially the pressure in our culture to be certain ways. This is horrible for both sexes.
I'm 31 btw, so a little bit older, lol. As far as gaming goes, I'm sure you are more adept in a much larger breadth of games. I tend to specialize in just a few games that I choose to get really good at. But yeah, would be fun to head off at some point though I'm not really playing anymore. Do you play or enjoy any RTS games btw? Those are my favorite kind. I like your spunk btw, I can tell you want to get your game on, that's awesome.
Anyhow, yeah I'd like to make some more but time is so hard to come by these days when you're just trying to make ends meet.

Thank you for your kind words. I think the same way of you.
Problem with humanity (not all) is that we have it so easy to judge. If someone isnt fitting into the frame its an abnormality to kick on. As you hear I do the same, I dont understnad the girly girls so I "dislike" them. I like guys who are strong and independent and fun, but who are in touch with their feelings and heart, while I dislike the ones being to tough and matcho. But that doesnt mean its anything wrong with the matcho, its rather my way of "judging" after my likes, and that in its own is wrong. Because whom am I too say I have the right to call a person matcho and that its a erong behaviour? Because its not. Its just how I see it. For real I guess there are one type of woman for every one type of guy. Some women like the strong tough types, some want to be protected, some like the more "loud" guys and really like that behaviour (and some like the violent...). Other like it another way, like I like the more thoughtful, smart and confident types, since Im more calm (but absolutely not too down to earht types since Im all about imagination and adventures ). And then there are so many types in between and I know they all are needed. Therefore we all should respect eachoter no matter what personality. This though is hard, as you see I do much wrong. But evben though its not a good thing in any way, its when this thinking turn into ugly words toward others, into sadness and fright, into violence that it really go over board. And sadly this is very much the case a lot of times too.
Hahah, altough on a sidenote I couldnt take a emotionally super fragile person either. XDD No matter what sex, call me a judger again but its still true because I cant hide the way Im wired. But that doesnt mean I would act evily against such a person, inside I might think some "not so nice things" and avoid these acuintances, but never would I "attack" such a person for who he/she was.
Woops, well there you would really get me, and get me good. I dont play many RTS at all. Kinda 0. Haha. So there it would be game over for me. XD
Time is never enough no matter what. I for instance do sculpt but Im also pushing my dream to become a writer and then its the studies... never ending list of must and wants and time is not the friend here.

Chris-Bennier In reply to Escaron [2013-03-05 19:08:18 +0000 UTC]
I hear what you are saying. I would agree that we cannot judge personality types. This is not to say that we can't judge behavior though when it's wrong because this is simply not the case. If some guy is being a total jerk, or getting violent, he is responsible for his behavior regardless of his personality. Often times people can adapt a violent or destructive persona. These kinds of affectations ARE abnormalities from their innate personality (strengths and weaknesses), and we can even say they are abnormalities from what should be expected. Respect is universal, though it can mean different things to us all. There ARE definitive truths that we can judge by, right or wrong anyhow only by degrees, but I think they are valid to such a degree nonetheless. I hope that made sense, lol. But yeah I see what you are saying.
The other thing I see is that I can also have my preferences without judging. I don't like really effeminate men, but I also think our definition of a man is wrong. Being in touch with your emotions is something that it should mean to be human, and so to neuter this from an entire gender hardly seems fair. But I also think that we have rolls. For example, in nature, man is stronger. I think I've met one female my entire life that I felt could have challenged me physically in a confrontation. I know there are others out there but it is not the norm. We are just gifted in this regard comparatively speaking.
This caters our roll as protectors of the family etc. It doesn't give us license to wield this or bully though.
Women have their uniqueness too and that was just one example for the men. Women are WAY better at reading body language for example (though I dunno I think I can compare here, lol.) From my experience women are usually better conversationalist because they are in tune, but possibly men have been swayed from heading certain ways in discussion because of these so called "norms" within our bunk consensus society.
I actually think that a lot of the gender confusion we see today, (where people aren't sure of what their sexual orientation is or should be) is due in part to how messed up we've gotten in defying these differences. Yes, there are differences, but I feel that as a society we are not looking at the whole pie, just two pieces, when there is a whole gamut of things to consider.
For example, I HATE how our society portrays beauty, and dev art is certainly no exception here. I feel there is way too much pressure out there for women to have to look like models and find all their self worth and meaning on whether they can tun heads or not. I mean really, is that what you were made for? Sure, I turn my head from time to time, and I love the female form, but this is not all that she is. In society however we've placed this high atop a pedestal and I think it's just sad.
The men too are being seen more and more as their muscles or money, and again, is this what a man is? NO!
...okay, lol, well I sense it's time to derail myself. SO yeah, that was my mini tirade for the day, thanks ...or at least I think it was but the day is still young, lol.
"Hahah, altough on a sidenote I couldnt take a emotionally super fragile person either. XDD No matter what sex, call me a judger again but its still true BECAUSE I CAN'T HIDE THE WAY I'M WIRED. But that doesnt mean I would act evily against such a person, inside I might think some "not so nice things" and avoid these acuintances, but never would I "attack" such a person for who he/she was."
This is so awesome. I like people that are wired (personality wise) like you and can't hide it. I like people to be true to form and not hide, but like I said earlier, not when they take on destructive natures, please hide that shit way deep down, lol, because I don't want to see it, and you might provoke my destructive tendencies to surface if you don't CHECK YOURSELF FOOL!!!!
So what kind of games are you best at?
And lastly, yeah, time is never enough...so with that...
Always a pleasure. I enjoy talking with you and I find you really thoughtful and kind. I like people who can consider things and are open for discussing them. Usually writers or aspiring writers are the best to bump into online because of that.

Oh of course of course. You are absolutely right and I would never disagree to it. As I said, people might be as they want/think what they want AS LONG as it doesnt harm others. If a guy has a nature/personality that is of violent nature and that make him take it out on others in any form that hurt them (verbal/physical or in any other form) then I wouldnt never excuse that for being this persons personality and so being okay. NEVER! If he has a violent personality and take it out on... games or whatever, and keep his ways in control around others then its fine. And of course this aply to women to. If a woman act out on another because her personality and likes make her not like this person that to is wrong! (and women can really hurt with words). I think we humans should respect eachoter yeah, respect eachoters personalitys BUT not when a personality is wired in the way that this person trample over others.
I had to laugh a little about the men being the strong protectors. Sorry. But I was just thinking that today raw strenght isnt acuired anymore. Today its all about "mind power" and women are just as great as men in that. And thats why its outrageous that men still earn so much more on the same job as womens in the same posotion. But that is only because the men still wanna hold their power positions. Men rule the world, thats for true, even if women begin to get in.
And you are just so right in the gender confusion. I couldnt have said it better myself. We must begin to look on the whole, and also the fact that we all need and compliment eachother, and not at the 2 halves.
And about the beauty norm of today... all I can say there is what you have already said. Its awful and insane. Both for women and men. I dont know how many times Ive seen/heard about how young women starve themselves to become "perfect". But as you said, its the same for men too. They have to be trim, have muscles and all that, otherwise they are no good, at least they think so.
Im a little different on that spot. I can honestly tell you that I have never in my 26 years looked at a guy for his muscles, in some way I cant see beauty in a body. I see personality and that is all I care for. If a person has a beauiful personality I dont care however he look. Ive never had a crush - because I dont see anything in a guy walking by, he is just a random person, a white sheet I dont know and thus cant find atractive. This might be a little strange, but its how I am. You could say I see the soul and not the package it come in.
And no, as fast as someone take on a destructive nature, as fast as a persons thinking and thought of someone he/she dont go together with become outgoing actions agains this other one/group THEN its not accepted anymore! I may not like girly girls, but if my rolling eyes when I hear them scream over a dress would become nasty words toward them, or violence then its NOT okay! We people may have our different natures/personalitys, but that doesnt ever mean we can use them as an excuse for our actions.
Ooh wow. Hard question. Im good at RPGs, and adventure, horror survival, puzzle, strategy.... yeah. I suck at shooting the most, I simply cant do it! XD Im mote of the "run around with a big broad sword" type. Hahhaha.
And I must also say that I find it very fun to talk to you to. I call myself a "fake-writer" at the time being. Because I write just as much as the real deal only I havnt tried on going published yet. But that is soon to come.

I have to say that I really like your voice. It feels relaxed and not forced but definitely forward moving and engaging. Anyhow, I probably can't respond in full to everything here, I want to try and submit some art and then I've got a million other things to tend to...all of which take time. But I do hope we can stay in touch, it's been great getting to know you a little more and you seem really cool. I especially liked your comment, "You could say I see the soul and not the package it come in.
" Very astute and I've heard this before, but it's definitely a sentiment that resonates well with me.
So, yeah I'd like to clarify too that I didn't mean "strong providers", but defenders. But I'm glad I gave you a laugh anyway. Although provision can be a form of defense, I was just noting that in nature we are not equal, obviously, there is male and female, we have our differences. Just saying that going back to basics man is generally stronger than women and I see that this makes us responsible to use this gift to protect, not to dominate.
For instance if someone breaks into my home, it's my job to fight him off and protect the family. I don't stand behind my wife (hypothetically speaking), and my mind is also there to aid in this, (as men have much stronger spacial skills them women). Just some of the differences that you can see and that doesn't mean there aren't exceptions to the rules. (this might be why first person shooters are generally harder for women to excel in). I see these as things that have helped to define our roles, which also don't have to be set in stone but it makes sense how it got this way, right wrong or indifferent. I see it originally as designed this way, but in our fallen state we don't always make the best of everything that comes our way.
I see what you are saying about the income thing. I don't really trust statistics though and certainly there are other things to consider here, but not disagreeing with you. I just think there is more too look at here in addition to the good points you've made.
Yeah, I can't stand "when I hear them scream over a dress", or anything even close to this. Honestly it drives me insane, but I hid it well. It drives me nuts for a few reasons. Although I love spontaneity, I don't really appreciate emotional outburst of shallow or what I would consider meaningless things. This is on top of not liking that super "girly" if you will sentiment, for whatever it's worth like I said I like my women to still be just that, lol, so don't misread please.
But yeah, I don't get excited very easy over little things and I hate small talk. That's why it's great to be on here and have something actually worth talking about with people who have thoughts on well, anything. People really seem to be getting more and more dumbed down in our generation. So, yeah, I'm not on any high horse or anything, but I'm also not subscribing to what our culture and society is spewing out theses days. It's all mostly trash anyhow, so if people want to go along with this Titanic have at it, but I see consensus reality and status quos as a stifling and sinking ship that I want no part of.
Lol, yeah I guess I can rant a lot. I think that's because I actually care a lot, about a whole lot of different things. I'm definitely the opinionated type, but I also know tact and how to use politics when necessary. Though I would prefer to be blunt a lot more than I actually am though. Anyhow, I'm sure others would appreciate me yet less so, haha. Oh well rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.
Also, by your definition, I'm a fake writer too, but I can never seem to motivate myself to the ambition that you have. I had this years ago, but then life was too busy for anything. Now it's slowed down, but I can't even finish the art projects I endeavour to, so yeah, not sure on this.
For what it's worth you've a voice worth sharing. Blessings.
