I was walking around Vancouver's "famed" East Hastings and ran into this line. This is actually near the end of a line up of the downtrodden natives of Downtown's East Side. The line itself stretched over an entire city block that ended up at what I assumed to be a soup kitchen. Needless to say, to stay very long is a very, very bad idea.

It's like a warzone. The oddest thing to see is someone who actually has money and a place to live walking around. There are parks with beautifully blooming cherry blossoms... and the homeless scattered around sleeping in the mid-day sun.
