Fabulous tutorial. 
Have you ever done a grey horse to a darker color? I've always had problems with making that look realistic. If you ever do something like that I'd love, love, love to see a tutorial for it!

In CS2 I don't have as many options in the "Curves" section. I don't know if I need to hit anything to get them, but I can do this because of that. I have none of the bottom of left part of the curves section. Is there a way to make that show up? Or am I out of luck?

Lovely tutorial...But I tried it myself (first with a seperate image, and then with using the same stock you did) and could not pull off the same result even following the exact same settings.. Am I missing something? :s
The resulting images always looked washed out and too bright. Also near the start you mentioned selecting/saving the white markings..but dont mention them again so I'm not sure if something was sposed to be done with them or..?
I'd love to be able to use this method for some works but at the moment its failing me lol
