First I must say this is the only thing I've ever posted using a free lineart, this one was pretty great though so I decided to color it and it turned out pretty awesome. This was really fun. Cresen

I understand the scene "field" just fine as well, but I don't understand the purpose of giving drawings of wolves things like scene hair, and piercings and things.

well the scene image is just being put onto an animal in a personified way. Many times the animals that are done in this style are people's fursonas, so they represent a part of the person.
