I've come across this picture several times, and I've always been rather fond of it. Being a bit of a hopeless romantic, I naturally love the concept XD It's so sweet. I like how you connected the two pictures using that whale looking thing as a sort of common bridge between the two; it's a cute motif, and adds a bit of a unique and personal twist, I think (:
The backgrounds are so soft and rendered beautifully~I envy you for having the talent of making them seem like they really belong there. I find it kind of difficult to draw backgrounds and have them appear anything but stiff. I particularly like the interesting radio type thing's design in the back of the boy's room. It looks kinda futuristic old-school, as weird as those two words sound together XD
The girl's hair looks great; I love how it's got that sort of loose and messy look (:
