Description May 2013
Orvieto, Italy

The most valuable, and certainly the most fun, education I've ever gotten in photography was a ten day workshop by Catherine Karnow Β in Italy. It was immersive and intense and filled with some of the best adventures of my life. This was from one such adventure.

Catherine got the thirteen of us together with the Fiat 500 club, a group of enthusiasts and owners of classic Fiat 500 cars. We were each paired with a driver and his Fiat and driven in a procession through the streets of Orvieto.

It was a crazy, giddy spectacle. Most of us stood out of the sunroof for at least part of the drive. Locals gathered on the streets and kids waved like we were in a bizarre parade. We grinned like idiots and waved at the locals and each other and didn't even mind the rain and cold (much). It was a bast.

Of course, you can't see much of that here.

Instead you see a toy Fiat, fixed to the dash of a real matching Fiat, looking through the windshield at a convoy of fiats.
