i was just wondering two things about this, wtf is a render and what kind of camera took this?

A render means it is a 3D computer generated (aka rendered, hence the name) image, and therefore, no kind of camera took it. It was created using a computer program, in this case, Terragen.

That light on the mountain is incredibly realistic and the water is not just some weird bump effect with reflection applies onto it.
This looks very convincing!
