Description
After spending a few years on this, it’s finally done.
—
Overview:
Felicoes are a species of sentient mammal that bear a resemblance to cats with a few fox-like characteristics. They are known for their exceptional physical qualities such as enhanced agility, elasticity, flexibility, durability, and reflexes.
Most Felicoes possess a special genetic makeup that can either enhance their innate capabilities even further or make them develop a new unique ability, but at the cost of weakening one of their senses.
—
Physical Characteristics:
Felicoes are small creatures distinguished by their long elongated tail, prominent pointed ears, delicate legs, a rounded head, large eyes, and a lustrous coat in many colors and patterns that were passed down from the previous generations.
They are about 35-45 cm (14-18 in) in height and 40-50 (16-20 in) in length, and weigh around 2-5 kg (4.4-11 lb). The tail can extend up to 30-60 cm (12-24 in) in length. Female Felicoes tend to be stronger, more enduring, and more agile than their male counterparts.
—
Eye Colors:
Felicoes have a limited range of eye colors, with green, amber, and blue being their primary ones. They often have blue eyes from birth which may or may not change as they age. Determining their true eye color only becomes possible upon reaching the age of two months. Some Felicoes can inherit a unique genetic attribute that causes heterochromia.
Additionally, genetic mutations can cause their eye color to deviate from the usual spectrum.
—
Diet:
Felicoes possess a highly adaptable, opportunistic feeding behavior and are classified as omnivores. They are capable of consuming a diverse array of food sources ranging from small prey to crustaceans, insects, fish, fruits, and vegetation. Although capable of subsisting on a purely plant-based diet, Felicoes tend to exhibit a preference for meat-based food sources. Additionally, they have been known to occasionally consume larger creatures, even their own predators although such occurrences are rare.
—
Reproduction:
Male Felicoes reach sexual maturity at 10-12 months of age while the females attain sexual maturity at 9-12 months of age. They are best suited to start breeding between 20-60 months of age.
Both genders can procreate year-round, but the preferred breeding period for them is between the 2nd and 5th months, optimizing the possibilities of healthy offspring. A Felico normally has only one mate whom they spend the rest of their life with.
A female indicates her readiness to breed through her heat cycle that typically occurs during the breeding season. The gestation period for female Felicoes generally lasts for 55-60 days. A female can produce litters of 1-6 kittens and have as many as 6 litters per year. Female Felicoes have an innate instinct to breed a lot and have a hard time controlling this instinct until their later years. However, the loss of their mate may interrupt or kill their breeding instinct entirely.
Both parents contribute to raising the young, with females taking the lead in feeding and overall care. Males usually adopt a secondary role till their kittens reach two months of age, at which point the roles reverse. The kittens often stay with their parents until they are 12 months old.
—
Life Stages:
Life stages of Felicoes:
- Kittenhood: 0-5 months
- Junior: 6-12 months
- Adolescence: 13-19 months
- Adulthood: 20-49 months
- Senior: 5-10 years
- Elderly: +11 years
Felicoes have a lifespan ranging from 18-20 years (or 24-26 Earth years). After attaining full size in adulthood, their fur continues to grow to control their body heat, making their fluffier the older they get.
—
Communication:
Felicoes communicate via a form of vocalization similar to a spoken language which they use to interact with each other in a harmonious manner. They also use other forms of communication such as body language, and scent marking.
—
Natural Abilities:
Felicoes are built to take down their prey with razor sharp teeth and powerful mandibles that are designed specifically for tearing flesh. They are also incredibly flexible, with exceptional elasticity that enables them to move seamlessly through tight spaces and narrow crevices as small as only 10% of their overall size.
Their extraordinary sense of smell allows them to track prey from great distances and detect any nearby predators. Their mobile ears enhance their auditory abilities, enabling them to locate sounds accurately, including detecting ultrasonic waves. Additionally, their delicate whiskers provide acute tactile feedback by sensing movement of air currents and physical contact with objects in their environment. Felicoes have slit-shaped pupils that increase their focus on intense light. Although they have limited color vision and perceive their surroundings in yellow hues, their superior night vision more than makes up for it, allowing them to hunt proficiently throughout the day and night.
Felicoes possess retractable claws and cushioned paw pads that provide them with a powerful grip on various surfaces, enabling them to climb with ease and hold onto vertical objects. Furthermore, they have multi-functional digits in place of their dewclaws, which function like thumbs, providing them with manipulation of objects. They can also hold and manipulate objects with their tails, with those having slender tails being more proficient at this skill compared to those with bushy tails.
—
Breeds:
Felicoes possess a complex genetic makeup that can enable them to develop new abilities or enhancing their innate capabilities and senses beyond their natural limits. These unique features classify them into three different breeds which are: Pure, Mixed, Mutant
Attributes of the Pure Breeds:
- Always having blue, green, and amber as their true eye color
- Always possessing standard natural abilities
- Always possessing normal physical traits
Attributes of the Mixed Breeds:
- Always having blue, green, and amber as their true eye color
- Possessing an ability that enhanced one of their physical capabilities or traits further beyond their natural limits
- Always possessing odd physical traits affected by one of the genetic conditions including but not limited to heterochromia, gigantism, dwarfism, and hermaphroditism.
Attributes of the Mutant Breeds:
- Always having other colors besides blue, green, and amber as their true eye color
- Always possessing a mutant ability on top of their natural abilities at the expense of weakening or losing one sense
- Possessing either normal physical traits or odd body traits affected by gigantism
The breed of the offsprings is determined by the breed of the parents:
- If both parents are Pure Breeds, the offsprings have a 100% chance of being born as Pure Breeds
- If both parents are Mutant Breeds, the offsprings have a 100% chance of being born as Mutant Breeds
- If one parent is a Pure Breed and another is a Mutant Breed, the offsprings have a 100% chance of being Mixed Breeds
- If both parents are Mixed Breeds, the offsprings have a 25% chance of being born as Pure Breeds, a 50% chance of being born as Mixed Breeds, and a 25% chance of being born as Mutant Breeds
- If one parent is a Pure Breed and another is a Mixed Breed, the offsprings have a 50% chance of being Pure Breeds, and a 50% chance of being Mixed Breeds
- If one parent is a Mutant Breed and another is a Mixed Breed, the offsprings have a 50% chance of being Mutant Breeds, and a 50% chance of being Mixed Breeds
Sex ratio depending on the breeds:
- Pure Breeds (40% Male, 60% Female)
- Mixed Breeds (40% Male, 40% Female, 20% Hermaphrodite)
- Mutant Breeds (60% Male, 40% Female)
