It is so great to get a comment like this...it is the kind of note that inspires an artist to keep trying.
Thanks you for taking a moment to write me such a wonderful thought...it means a lot to me.

Great artists deserve recognition and for the most part many of us have no one to give us hearty critique or feedback. While I appreciate comments like "Cool" or "That's nice" I have the same joy as you when someone stops to take a moment and "smell the roses" lol.
Mind I ask what was your inspiration for this work of art? I noticed you didn't put much of a description on it, but that's good because it opens the mind to wonder. What I love most about it personally is that it speaks to me, and when I say speak itβs like itβs trying to tell me a story. As simple as this sculpture is, so much emotion is βbound into" it, ha ha .

This is the kind of response an artist hopes for...thank you for taking a moment to write me.
You are right about why I do not put description about my work...I want you to create.
I try with my work to give an open ended story or idea...I try.

Once again, another piece of real art. I love the detail You've crafted into this one. Hey, what is the name of the clay You're using to create these? And could You perhaps point me to a website that sells it? Thanks!

What a great compliment...I use all different types! This was a very soft clay called kleen clay but I also use Roma, Wed and chavant - just google anyone of those and you should find a website for each to find a description and dealer near you.

I can't stop watching this piece. It's terrifying, but yet so realistic. If that's "a quickie", you are truly an Artist.

I like that the hands are treated like full figures instead of only a part of the body. It is very much like two complete figures in some kind of relationship turmoil. I love how they interact with the background.
This is extraordinary. Thank you for sharing!

What a great interpretation and probably very accurate...I love when another artist gives me insight to my own work...thanks so much!

Yeah, it's been a while between drinks. Had my head buried in the sand working on a film. The shoot was a week ago, so I might be able to come up for air now.

What i'd REALLY love is if you could do more to the sculpture or if not do somthing to the arm's so the detail fade's away in crease's of the skin n bone's so the arm's dont just "end" there you know? And what would be really cool is if you signed my skin under the tattoo then i got that done too "Hey Rockstar" lolol but seriously your work is THAT good i have'nt drawn anything for AGES im sculpting and mask making right now well more mask making im looking for a job and i need the money to fund my work and get better at it. I've left one email and 2 voice msg's for The Prince's Trust but they dont care otherwise i would have had a reply by now.
Keep up the good work

Your welcome!
And I was wondering, do you have any helpful hints about sculpting? I'm doing a sculpture in art class

EvanCampbell In reply to mudpie-eater [2008-10-05 00:30:18 +0000 UTC]
The only thing I can say without writing a book is to keep your forms clean...make sure the surface of your forms are not lumpy and try to use your fingers towards the finish process instead of tools. Your fingrers put the lifeforce directly into the clay.
