Description

So I read a fun lil sci-fi short story this morning. It went a little something like this:

Aliens try to conquer 21st-century humanity... with flintlock muskets, bayonets and jars full of gunpowder. It doesn't end well for them.

Antigravity and with it, faster-than-light travel is actually SUPER EASY TO MAKE. So easy, in fact, that most sapient species in the galaxy often make their first antigrav devices out of sticks and stones completely by accident. The problem is, the principle that allows this to happen is so illogical and stupid that it throws developing scientific theory out of shape.

The result is a bunch of stone-age aliens farting around the stars beating each other over the head with rocks and clubs in spaceships that have no working toilets, never advancing technologically. This race in particular was lucky enough to discover black gunpowder before their first antigrav device. They consider themselves very advanced and have found a lot of success conquering lesser races with muskets and metallurgy. Until they landed on Earth, that is.

It's learned that humans are probably the most advanced lifeforms to exist, only because for some reason or other we never found the secrets to antigravity and FTL travel. At least, we didn't until aliens landed...
