Conformation
Pyries are based off of bats. They have large ears that can hear very well; they rely mostly on their ears but use their eyes as well, which are large and have night vision. Inside their mouth they have sharp teeth made for ripping and tearing, as they are carnivores. They have large chests and a large heart and lung capacity, and also they have small stomachs. Their fur is only thick around the neck and shoulder area, in case they get into a fight. Their claws are small but they kill mostly with their mouths; their small claws are used to grip the ground when they run and to dig into an animal’s pelt when they jump on them. They only have three toes on their paws. Pyries have long tongues that they use to lap up water and blood. Their noses are long, making them able to smell better. Most Pyries have three tails, which is common, though it has been heard of for four or even five tails to occur, though it’s extremely rare. Males are slightly larger than females and their tails are thinner and a bit longer, while females’ tails are thick with fur and shorter. Pyries are huge animals and are actually big enough to be ridden.

Personalities
A pyry’s personality can range as much as a human’s can. However, there are some habits as pyries are pack animals. A group of pyries is called a colony. It normally consists of an alpha male, an alpha female, a beta male, a beta female, and possibly more males and females, along with all of their offspring. Colonies can get up into the 100s. Pyries are usually a very accepting species, so it doesn’t take long for the Colony to get used to a new member. Pups are accepted the moment they’re born. The alpha pair is always and charge and is to be the first to mate during mating season, followed by the beta, and then it goes down the pecking order from there. If the alpha pair doesn’t mate that season, then no one does. Pyries might also have several mates. Any pyry can choose mate with any pyry that's equal in rank or lower in rank then them. If a lower ranked pyry tries to mate with a higher ranked pyry first, they're often kicked out of the colony. Pyries also have a habit of licking up blood off their prey, or from around their prey. They love to swim. Pyries adore water and after drinking it will go splashing around in it for hours.

Eyes
The eyes of a pyry can tell you what kind of personality it has. The eyes are the window to the pyry’s soul. If a pyry has lightly colored eyes, then they have a good soul, no matter how evil they act. If they have darker eyes, then they’re evil, no matter how they act. Pyries can have literally any colored eyes, as long as it reflects their soul. The only colors not allowed are black and white.

Tails
A pyry’s tail is used for balance while running. Females have big poofy tails that are shorter while males have longer, thin tails. The females’ tails are poofier because they use them as a blanket to cover the pups when it gets cold. A pyry has three tails that can each move independently. Having four tails is rare while having five tails is even rarer, but it’s been heard of. Being born with less than two tails is impossible but there have been known of sightings of pyries with two or even one tail because they lost it when they were a pup or through an accident.

Diet
Because pyries are so huge, they tend to go after the big prizes, like antelope, buffalo, moose, zebra, and even giraffes. A colony of pyries can easily even take down an elephant without one member getting hurt. In times of starvation pyries might take on more dangerous prey; like lions or panthers. Pyries don’t go after cheetahs because of mutual respect; cheetahs can run just as fast as pyries can; up to 60 miles per hour. Pyries can eat up to twice their own weight within a week. They are fearless and will go after almost any animal for a challenge.

Reproduction
Pyries breed in the summer and have their pups in the spring. They usually give birth to twins and sometimes triplets, and very rarely only one. The pups will stay in the den for a week before being allowed out into the colony, and once they’re welcomed they will stay with their mother for two years, even if their mother has more pups. Pyries have pups every year. There is no way to tell how pyries’ coat colors pass down, and their eyes are completely independent of genetics.

How to Get One
Pyries are an OPEN species. Please ask me before you make one, though. Remember that anything rare is off limits completely and uncommon things must be asked for permission. These are completely my species so please credit me whenever you use them. Do not use pyries off of dA at all. For now everything rare is off-limits.
