Hm. That's an interesting head canon. In mine, the animatronics were always sentient, but they never wanted to kill anyone until the children possessed them and used their bodies to kill.

I think the kids spirits have this thing where if they're all alone with an adult(male like one who killed them), they'll lose control and try to get revenge. They don't wanna kill, but its like something's forcing them.
