I can relate with Trixie. I've had a few pet dogs growing up and most of them would get ill and not recover.
I stopped having pets around high school. I just don't have luck.

Well Trixie, I think I've found the source of your problem.
First off, you kept Fishy in a fishbowl. That's the worst possible thing you can do to a fish outside of forgetting to feed it or stomping on it.
Captain Hamster is member of long bloodline of inbreeds that make up the entirety of the domestic hamster population. So there wasn't much you could do for him there.
Josephus on the other hand... I think you might be cursed.
