Description
At first they don't know the Master Sword isn't their destiny, but their fate. Even if they knew, they would still grab it without hesitation.
I really wanted to push this further when I did the toned version for Linktober, so I indulged.
EDIT:
A little extra info!
Each Link is using his dominant hand to reach for the sword. Some lefts, some rights. The wide open palms are Links I felt put less thought and more instinct into grabbing the sword, and the softly-opened palms are Links I felt put more serious thought into what the sword meant exactly - some before, some after their stories ended. WW Link's hand is so small because after all, he was very young when he had his adventure. I almost did the same for OoT Link (or a skeleton hand), but his adult form bracer is a little easier to identify. I kept all of their colors on the dull side so they would look like one unit, and wouldn't compete with the sword and the triforce.
Since there was only one Master Sword in the picture, I took little bits from the various generations to make a sort of a hybrid. You might think it's the same old Master Sword every time, but there's something subtly original each time. (As I'm writing this extra in 2023, holy crap did TotK do something different with it!)
In 2023 I printed out ten copies of my Linktober of '22 to bring with me to conventions and share with friends, and used this for the cover. I have four left - which means six whole people have copies! I won't be making any more after the final copy is gone, though. It's a strange sort of thing to get hung up on, but in the middle of Linktober last year, I had to say goodbye to my 17-year old cat. He had a rare disease that regular check-ups, blood tests, and scans can't show, so it came as a shock. Life goes on, of course, but I just can't let go of that feeling when I look at the particular day he died. I skipped Linktober '23 to put some distance between that memory and the event.
I'm hoping to come back swinging in 2024, though. It is an amazing event to take part in. ^_~
