I've been working with this character for the past few years but I've never felt good about his design until now, so here's all of the progress from start to finish! If I had to guess the first sprite was late 2015, then on line C was around mid 2016. If you want some deeper insight I've explained each sprite line by line below!

Hopefully the flow isn't too confusing, and also each red question mark is between to alternate versions of a sprite/form that I'm not too sure if it's the better form or not!

Please don't use this any of these as your own, except if you want to use this as a reference or guide to help make your own original sprite!

EXPLANATION OF EACH LINE OF PROGRESS:
Progress Line [A]: I made the first sprite a long time ago, originally I had made this character as a fusion of two older characters. Then I remade it twice, and in the second remake I did a really poor SSJ, SSJ2, SSJ3, and SSJ4 form. One of my favorite things to do is make alternate forms of my characters so I also made super saiyan god, super saiyan blue, and my own sort of unique form (this was before the most recent form past blue) that I called: channeled ki? Pretty shitty name but that's what I named it at the time. Better name later.
Progress Line [B]: Here I made an alternate colored SSJ1. I also made a ripped shirt, blooded and battered/scarred version of SSJ2, looking back at it a nice detail would've been some ripped pants but that's not a detail that I learned how to do/picked up until later. I also made a way more improved SSJ3 hair, honestly not sure what I was thinking with the last SSJ3 hair that's just atrocious to look at tbh. And also a recolored & shirtless SSJ3 that I thought looked neat.
Progress Line [C]: Here's where I took the character more seriously, I originally had an entire background story to him / planned to make a flash animation to display his story. Quick synopsis is that he was from an alternate universe (really original but this was when Dragon ball super first introduced this idea and I instantly knew how I wanted his story to go lol. cliche.) and he was going to be from an alternate Planet Vegeta. Something something landed on earth, cut his hair, eventually reformed (similar to Vegeta lol) and found his earthly outfit. I made his SSJ1/2 form, then in the story I planned to have him cut his hair even shorter, then at this point in the story he would learn SSJ3! And again I made SSG, SSB, and "channeled ki" forms for his latest design.
Progress Line [D]: Decently recent remake of his design, was pretty happy with the base but I didn't like how I made his SSG and SSB forms. Not too happy with these even at the time.
Progress Line [E]: About a week later I got mad at how badly I updated his design, so I sat down and really tried hard to make him look nice. I originally wanted to see how well I could make one of his earlier looks, then cut the hair again and remade the forms. Think these really looked off and don't like the designs. Towards the end I made an attempt at making a Ultra instinct form, I wasn't too sure how to do his hair because it seems like Goku's hair is the same as his base. However this looked really weird seeing as how Varde's base form hair is green...
Progress Line [F]: Tried to see how his ultra instinct form would look if I just made it a really dark green, then a form more similar to goku's. Not sure how I feel about these but they looked pretty good I think. Then the last sprite is a mastered ultra instinct, not much to say about these.
Progress Line [G]: About a month later after some more practice I felt like I was way better than I was before, and wanted to make a really good remake of his design. Something that always bothered me was how his face looked, and how his hair didn't flow that well. So in this line just shows each time I changed something, added some personality in his hair and stuff.
Progress Line [H]: This line is pretty self explanatory, had a lot of fun making all the forms. If you read all of this I'm happy you care so much about my insight! Love ya!

TL;DR: I have fun remaking my characters to see if I can improve it, and I like making alt forms cuz that's cool asf.
