Description It's time to revisit Velocity X's best girl.

It's not a lot, but there's some new information and it regards how that mechanical, weaponized Piko Piko Hammer of hers works.

Ingame, you will notice Sparky has the ability to swap out what comes out of her hammer. Not only that, but they also have ammo that permanently depletes for the current round. This mechanic is VERY similar to Hot Wheels: Velocity X's Gadget weapon system. Down to a tee in fact to match the source material. She also utilizes a large selection of the gadget weapons from Velocity X. Each has their own ammo count as well.

This system is integrated in such a way that it punishes Sparky mains for spamming Drive Attacks since each of her damaging gadgets deal as much fast damage and consume their respective ammo as fast as they did in Velocity X. And then there's her Energy Shield, which grants brief, total invincibility...but goes from 100% to 0% after only four uses. Once she's out of ammo in all gadgets, the hammer breaks, her skill disappears from the hud for the remainder of the round, and Drives are gone. The only way to get the hammer back and bring back her gadget options is to plan out when to utilize Overdrive, followed by cancelling Overdrive immediately very carefully so you don't accidentally use the input to force a combo to stop instead. And you want Sparky to have at least one use remaining on all of her gadgets, as that is her Astral Finish requirement.

Her Astral Finish is named after her vehicle of choice in Velocity X's 7th mission that the player had to protect in that game, which she uses to run the opponent over into a wall before jumping out and nuking both her Hyperliner and the pinned down opponent with Velocity X's strongest gadget that was only usable in the final Adventure Mode mission of the game; the Quantum Annihilator.

Lastly, Sparky's character-specific stage comes right from Velocity X in the form of Crankshaft Bay.

I like how you did with Sparky. I would like to see more character select renders and like to see Sparky's moveset.

You are a man with taste, friend. The only other girl in her source game is Fastlane Frescatti, and as much as many love her kind of character type since Raven is part of it...in her case, Sparky>Fastlane Frescatti any day.

Sparky's got the best version of this particular 'do, she's not a blonde stereotype (thank you for that, based THQ US and Mattel), and she's not afraid to get even with attempted captors over being a cliche damsel in distress unlike a certain Princess that can't go without being captured by a certain turtle from the most obvious traps or remembering she can prevent being captured by him herself for 5 seconds every day of the week.

Her source origin really is a good game. A hidden gem on the Gamecube, PC and PS2...but true shovelware on the GBA. I've owned all but the PC version at least once. It's aged noticeably today since its 2002 release, but it's still really good.

If you can emulate it if you don't have a compatible console, I highly recommend the PS2 version since Nintendo has it out for Dolphin atm from what I've heard since Gamecube and Wii roms are proving to be hard to find. If you still have the Gamecube compatible Wii model, get it for the Gamecube version since the Gamecube had solid control response with its games from what I remember. Personal favorite characters go to Sparky and Gearhead, but the main protag - Max - recently made it to my favorite video game protagonists list now that I know that he has the same voice actor as freaking Danny Phantom.

It's short for the story, but there's a lot you can do. Pain in the ass to complete tho. I remember the Challenges being the hardest part of the damn game since I could only ever get through half of the 60 in there. I remember there was also this quality joke vehicle that was also cheap in multiplayer...I THINK it was Surfin' School Bus.
