Description
The scarecrows are eternal creatures, beings who have watched this realm long before man ever came to be. They have walked the earth before plow ever broke it. They have bore the crops that have long since vanished from this plane. No one knows how long they have truly been a part of this world, but all are sure it was well before any human mind ever came to be. The scarecrows that are seen today have adapted and assimilated our practices, their root and earth fusing to tools and equipment. This is what they have become, but they were not always like this. They could not have been. Some have glimpsed beings that may have been created long before man took to the fields, creatures that inhabit a cruder form. Each tale speaks of them tied and nailed to posts and poles, like a dummy a farmer puts in the field. But they are very much alive, and much more powerful than any hay-filled set of clothes. They do not walk, as others carry them forth. They do not leave their posts, as they can never be freed from them. Some believe it may be a ritual, or some spiritual practice for them to bear their ancient ones like this, but others have doubts. The other scarecrows are the ones who drive in the nails and bind them to these posts. Perhaps this practice is not done out of honor but out of fear...
