Thanks, this was an amalgam of various fire control console designs combined with a need to make them in a backward, isolated system with limited designs. And you're right, General Products is the name of a starship manufacturing company in Larry Niven's universe. *sigh* I was thinking about the Jeep, where its name was drawn from G.P. - some believed it stood for General Purpose Vehicle, while Ford used it to mean (G) Government vehicle (P) 80-inch wheel base. I was also thinking of General Purpose computers, which are non-specialized systems. Products sounds better for a manufacturer than Purpose. I will need to find a new name.
