That has to be the #1 best vash cosplay ever man. I like that you even have the bottom shot-up part of the clothing aged/dirty to look like you really been through stuff. That glove really pulls together the mechanical look of the arm too. Badass work man.

I usually find most cosplays to look rather...funny. But you, totally portrayed Vash excellently! Good job

Is that outer waist belt sewen onto the coat itself or connected to something else like perhaps the two front circles and the back one? I've been trying to figure out a good way to tighten up the waist part on Vash

I think I anchored it to the coat with the studs in the belt. Without the belt it isn't very form fitting, but that's honestly pretty accurate to the anime and manga if you keep an eye out for certain shots of it.

I got lucky and found the gun on ebay, it was a solid cast that someone had made. but that was a couple of years ago, so I'm not sure if anyone still makes them or not. And that mask is super smexy! Thanks for the share

Mine's pretty lightweight. And it's very similar to the one you linked but I'm thinking I probably got mine from someone else since it was through ebay and not etsy. But who knows? I can't honetly remember xD

The singe/bullet holes are amazing! I bet you had to plot that out really carefully. Did you have to do a great deal of practice on the technique before doing it on the finished costume? I just love the art of making the new look old.

heh, I can't remember if I took a lot of time or not mapping out the bullet holes, I think I just randomized them around the edges until I liked where it was going. I drew them on the coat before cutting them out though, so I probably did erase some and reposition them before cutting anything.
Love the silverbolt ava btw xD

can i ask how you made the bullet holes, i have cloaks that i want to bullets holez but i haven't found any tuts that deal with big bullets holes.

Ex-Shadow In reply to elistree [2012-03-11 13:55:57 +0000 UTC]
I just traced the holes using coins and then cut them out once the pattern I'd drawn looked good to me. My only suggestion is if you make holes in fabrics that you use a fabric stiffener or fray block so that the holes won't get messed up from the fibers coming loose over time.

thanks,i don't konw what fray block is but i can hazard a guess and google it to find it, using templates is a good idea,

fray-check can be found at Joann fabrics and crafts, and probably walmart too. its a little bottle of glue basically that u put on the edge of your fabric to keep it from fraying.

and burning or painting the edges for the blackened rings?

Another cosplayer told me this:
I burned the edges with a lighter and added three different layers of dark brown, gray and black fabric paints (mixed with a lot of water)

the boots were originally from hottopic and I altered them a bit. I think some gothic websites still sell boots similar to this
