Description
This is definitely one of the smallest skeletons I have worked with: the common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus), a small microbat. 🦇I have worked with small bats, but somehow I still definitely mistook it's size. The bones are smaller than the needles I used to apply glue. What made it even more of a challenge, is that the specimen was stored in alcohol for a long time which totally dehydrated the skin.
Note, in Europe all native species of bats are illegal to own. This skeleton goes to a museum, one of the institutes that are under exemption of this law.
