Transparency is enabled, but was hard to achieve for the above preview.
Install
- Right click on .inf file and select install.
- Open Mouse properties and go to pointers.
- Find the WP7 cursors in the the drop down.

An idea I had but I can't make it, is to take the already existing Windows 8 cursor, flatten it (no emboss nor shadow) and for the busy cursor use the little dots that display every time Windows 8 starts or when you launch an app.

I had the same idea. It's actually something I want to work on in the future - now that Windows 8 is out and I have a better understanding of how to make a cursor that fits the more unified metro look.

Metro X2 are a monochrome version of the Metro X1 cursors, in blue and black variants. Here is how to install them:
1. click the tiny green download icon at the far right of this page
to download [link]
2. Use winzip to extract the metro directory in the zip to your hard disk.
3. Use Windows explorer to find the extracted files. (blue or black version)
4. right click Install.inf and click install.
5. go into the control panel.
6. click hardware and sound | mouse | pointers | scheme | Metro X2 Blue
7. ta da.
8. Delete the extracted files
