Brett walked inside with a sigh, "Sorry, me and er, Drake were hanging out." Brett smiled happily, amused by the surprised look on his stepmother's face. "Well, it's nice to see you in a good mood, Brett." she smiled, folding a rag and returning to the kitchen. Brett smirked, walking upstairs. He closed the door behind him, digging around in his shelf for a clean notebook. He flipped the pages cleanly, smiling. The smell of a fresh notebook made him smile. He sat comfortably on his bed, taking out a pencil. Brett stared at the blank page for a moment, trying to remember, then he slowly and carefully sketched Druid, Vladimir, Thane, and himself. He chuckled quietly, carefully coloring in the ones with darker hair's hair. After about an hour of making everything perfect, he stared at the picture. Druid was grinning widely, the innocent way he does lately, with Vladimir standing maliciously beside him, a dark grin spread across his face. Thane was smiling, admiring Brett's neck as he usually was. Then there was Brett, himself. He had drawn himself smiling only a bit, a hand running through his own hair. Brett sighed, ripping the drawing out carefully, pinning it up on his wall. Brett rolled his shoulders, glancing at the clock. "One a.m" he murmured, stripping of his jeans and crawling under the sheets to sleep. A sudden shaking awoke Brett quickly, as he almost jumped out of his skin. "Brett, sweetie, your friend Dante is on the phone." Jennifer said quietly, as Brett took the phone. "H-hello?" Brett murmured, still sleepy. "Brett..." Dante began, and Brett could tell by his voice something had happened. "What?" Brett asked, "What happened?" he cleared his throat, getting all tiredness out of his voice. Dante sighed deeply on the other line, pausing, before saying quietly, "Jared committed suicide. I'm sorry, Brett.". "No..." Brett whispered, tears welling in his eyes. Dante sighed again, "He swallowed a bottle of sleep medicine. No one knew until his dad called me." Dante said, his voice cracking lightly. Brett trembled, not knowing what to say. Somehow, he didn't believe it. He didn't want to believe it. "Brett?" Dante started again. "Y-yeah?" Brett whispered hoarsely, blinking away tears. "It's not your fault, okay? Jared... Jared has been planning this for awhile." Brett shook his head. "But why...?" asked, sorrow showing clearly on his stricken face. "I... I don't know." Dante said, before sniffing into the phone. "Brett... I'll call you later. I won't be at school today..." he murmured, hanging up before Brett could react. Brett sighed deeply, shaking his head. Tears flowed down his cheeks, as he sobbed into his hands. How would he face the day. Brett slowly stood, getting dressed quickly as his mind was blank except for sorrow. Brett walked outside, awaiting the bus. He got on silently, walking to the back where Druid sat. "Hey Brett..." Druid trailed off, seeing his expression. "Brett, what's wrong?" he asked, frowning, his crimson eyes wide in worry. Brett shook his head, tears starting to flow from his eyes again. Brett shook his head slowly, crying into his hands again. Druid held a hand on back, comforting Brett for a reason he didn't know why. "Jared committed suicide." Brett finally sobbed quietly, looking over at Druid. "Oh, Brett... I'm so sorry." Druid whispered, as Brett continued to cry into Druid's arm. Druid hummed to Brett quietly, as Brett's crying died down while the reality sunk in slowly. Jared was gone. They finally arrived at school, doing the usual routine. So, there was an announcement from Principle Collins that Jared was indeed passed. Multiple people cried, while others just didn't say a thing. The rest of the day went on uneventful, and Druid and Brett returned home after a day of school. The two spent the rest of the day together, trying to get their minds off of Jared as they played games like tag, and hide and seek childishly. Brett smiled, and waved a goodbye to Druid. As he started home, he heard Druid say, "Wait..."
